‘Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” Voice Actor Confirms that He Brought Doomsday to Life in the Film!

While the previous trailers and teasers about the upcoming superhero movie based on DC Comics “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” was centered primarily on the tiff between Superman, played by Henry Cavill, and Batman, played by Ben Affleck, there is actually a bigger battle towards the latter part of the movie.

And it is not going to be Superman and Batman versus Lex Luthor but the Justice League versus powerful Krypton creature Doomsday. That seems to be the big secret of the movie as it does not want to spoil everything by leaving some sort of a surprise to viewers towards the penultimate part of the film.

It was actually voice actor Robin Atkin Downes who confirmed on Twitter on February 26 that he has helped bring Doomsday to life in “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

He described how proud he is to be a part of the movie. As a voice actor, his face would not be seen in the film. It is more than likely that Downes performed the motion capture to bring the CGI beast to the big screen while lending his voice to the big production, details Screen Rant.

Robin Atkin Downes has been working a lot with DC Animation as he has lent his voice in various animated series including “Batman: Bad Blood,” “Batman: Arkham Knight,” “Batman vs. Robin,” “Beware the Batman,” “All-Star Superman” and “Justice League: Doom.”

As a versatile voice actor that he is, he has voiced many characters from DC Comics including Alfred Pennyworth, Harvey Dent, Deathstroke, and the Court of Owls Grandmaster.

He has also lent his voice in some DC video games including “Batman: Arkham Origins” and “Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham.” Other than serving for DC, he has also done some voice work for Marvel Animation by lending his voice to Abomination and Mister Fantastic.

Reports have it that Doomsday will be featured in “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” with an interesting backstory or how he came out to be the big bad that he has become.

The fight could have started 12 years ago

To many fans of both Batman and Superman, the upcoming movie showing in a month’s time will be the first time that the Man of Steel and the Caped Crusader will go head-to-head.

But the plot is no longer new to the readers of DC Comics. In fact, the smackdown between the two superheroes could have happened way back in 2004 when the comic book “Batman vs. Superman: Asylum” was released. It was planned back then that a movie is to be made of the comic book, details iO9.

The best account of the rise and fall of “Batman vs. Superman: Asylum” comes from David Hughes’ book titled “Tales from Development Hell: The Greatest Movies Never Made.”

The good news is that Hughes’ chapter on the film is now actually online. Based on that specific chapter, the reason for fighting between Superman and Batman is totally different. In “Batman vs. Superman: Asylum,” the superheroes are fighting because Superman gets in the way of Batman’s bloody vengeance against the Joker.

In the upcoming movie, however, Batman is angry on Superman directly because he believes the Man of Steel is too powerful and too alien to be trusted. Batman’s distrust of Superman also has a concrete motivation, which is none other than the wholesale destruction in Metropolis at the end of “Man of Steel,” which apparently claimed someone Bruce Wayne cares about.

Batman-centric teasers

Over the past few weeks, most of the promo materials regarding the upcoming DC superhero movie “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” have been Batman-centric. It is Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne and his Caped Crusader alter-ego that have been the front and center of the movie’s marketing campaign.

While Batman has tons of movie in the past, the last of which is the very memorable The Dark Knight trilogy by Christopher Nolan with Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader, “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” actually marks the first time that The Dark Knight is introduced into the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).

Superman has already been phased into the DCEU with the showing of “Man of Steel” in 2013 and it is only now that Batman is getting the treatment.
