When the smoke clears after the battle of Batman and Superman in the upcoming movie “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” the two DC superheroes will patch things up and face a common nemesis.
Apart from working together to eventually battle Lex Luthor, the superhero duo will also face one of Superman’s deadliest foes known as Doomsday.
In the latest trailer, Superman and Batman along with Princess Diana, also known as Wonder Woman, are seen facing off against Doomsday in the movie.
It was actually Director Zack Snyder who confirmed the presence of Doomsday on “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” when he recently gave new details on the creature’s origin on a French publication, notes Comingsoon.net.
Snyder explained that Doomsday is essentially an evolution. He was the reason for the death of Superman in the comic books. But he will not be able to do the same on the Man of Steel on “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
According to Snyder, if Superman is the best evolution of Zod, Doomsday is the worst version of the villain from Krypton.
Doomsday has been designed in the movie by reputable production designer Patrick Tatopoulos, who is famous for designing monsters and creatures on films including “Independence Day,” “Godzilla,” and “Pitch Black.”
No death of Superman
The director also said that Superman will not be killed in the movie but he will evolve to become part of Lex Luthor’s plan to protect the world.
The different Superman under the command of Luthor will really make fans think how they look at super beings.
While some fans are worried that the recent trailer of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” has revealed too much about Doomsday, Tatopoulos cited that there is a larger threat at play in the movie but he did not disclose it yet. Speculations have it that there will be another evil coming from Krypton other than Doomsday.
The glimpse of Doomsday in the trailer just added to the excitement of fans on “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” when it is finally released to global theaters on March 25, 2016.
Viral teaser
Meanwhile, a viral 30-second teaser of the movie packs plenty of action. Among the more notable footage in the online promo is Batman, played by Ben Affleck, fighting off soldiers all wearing the Superman logo, details Digital Spy.
It was also the same scene where Superman arrives and rips off Batman’s mask to reveal Bruce Wayne underneath.
The unmasking actually follows a scene where some Superman soldiers are taking their bow to the Man of Steel as he proceeds to the imprisoned Batman.
It turns out that the footage was a nightmare by Bruce Wayne because he was afraid of what Superman will do to the world. The revelation was made by film’s costume designer Michael Wilkinson.
According to Wilkinson, Zack Snyder had a great idea of the nightmarish vision, almost a vision of the future, or a post-apocalyptic vision.
He said that it is like a dream that Bruce Wayne had featuring a Mad Max version of the end of the world. So Batman was trying to survive but Superman and his minions were preventing him from doing so. But it is Bruce’s own nightmare and not part of their much-talked-about fight scene.
Wilkinson also added that in the film, Superman will continue to be a figure of hope, a positive thing. But his motivations and the consequences of his actions are the ones being questioned by the world and Batman.
