Given its high potential for a blockbuster success when it finally hits global theaters on March 25, 2016, “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is already loaded in terms of cast members, great characters, and very interesting storylines.
The movie will get another extra boost in terms of popularity with the millions of fans of “The Walking Dead,” arguably the most popular post-apocalyptic survival horror drama TV series on the small screen today, as it just recently revealed that two cast members from the show’s Season 6 will have cameo roles in the film.
Apparently, Lauren Cohan, who plays the fan-favorite character Maggie in “The Walking Dead” will be in “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” and she will take on the role of Martha Wayne, the mother of Bruce Wayne, to be played by Ben Affleck, notes the Flickering Myth.
As if to complete “The Walking Dead” Season 6 mix, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan of The Saviors in the popular TV series, shall also be in the film to take on the role of the husband of Martha and father of Bruce, Thomas.
While there has yet to be a Season 6 episode of “The Walking Dead” that already features Jeffrey Dean Morgan, he is expected to take center stage in the second half of the TV series when it makes its Valentine’s Day midseason premiere next month.
Of course, Cohan and Morgan will just be playing bit parts to “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” but considering their huge following, especially Cohan as Maggie in “The Walking Dead,” it surely adds a plus factor on the box-office take of the movie when it finally hits theaters in about two month’s time.
Great things in store from DC and Warner Bros
Meanwhile, the return of the American superhero drama TV series “The Flash” on The CW on January 19 also gave fans a glimpse of what they should expect from DC Comics and Warner Bros this year.
A TV special was aired after “The Flash” midseason premiere featuring a new footage and video interviews from the cast of “Wonder Woman,” “Justice League,” “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” and “Suicide Squad,” details Collider.
Most attention went to the new entries in the DC/Warner Bros plate but the feature with Kevin Smith discussing his fascination with Zack Snyder’s “Suicide Squad” had plenty of rich information particularly for the DC fans and DC Comics nerds.
It also featured video interviews with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Jesse Eisenberg, three of the big stars in “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
An unenviable task
In the upcoming superhero movie based on DC comics, “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” Ben Affleck will take on the role of Bruce Wayne and the Caped Crusader, which is quite an unenviable and daunting task considering the very memorable take of Christian Bale in The Dark Knight trilogy under the meticulous helming of Christopher Nolan.
Many prime actors have taken on the Batman role before Christian Bale including Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, and George Clooney. But none can compare to the realism of The Dark Knight trilogy by Christopher Nolan which really gave Batman more weight as a superhero.
So when Director Zack Snyder and Ben Affleck were filming “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” they wanted the Caped Crusader to be more like the persona in The Dark Knight trilogy.
However, the challenge is to be different. They found a way into the character by aging the superhero.
Thus, in the upcoming movie, due to hit theaters on March 25, 2016, Ben Affleck shall take an aging Batman / Bruce Wayne and that the character shall no longer focus about the murder of his parents and seek vengeance against criminal elements in the city.
