Now that filming for “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” has already been completed, fans the world over are eagerly anticipating the movie’s first official trailer.
The movie is due to hit theaters worldwide on March 25, 2016.
Just before Christmas, reports have it that a teaser for the movie has been leaked online via the web-based bulletin board 4chan.
But there is no trace of the trailer on the site now. Not even on YouTube, which led many fans to believe that Warner Bros may have pulled the plug on the leaked teaser to avoid premature exposure of the synopsis of the film.
The supposed leak trailer indicated how Batman got out of retirement from crime fighting after witnessing the destruction of the city as Superman and some Kryptonians fight and made the earth their battleground.
The timing of the release
In its latest report on the movie, Comicbook.com has been analyzing the timing of the ideal release for the official trailer of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
Earlier reports said that the first official trailer of the movie would come out during the screening of “The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies,” which officially hit theaters on December 17, 2014.
It was a good strategy to say the least since “The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies” is also Warner Bros’ latest and last blockbuster for 2014. Showing the trailer of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” during the movie’s screening would give it the wide exposure that is needed by an upcoming blockbuster.
As it turned out, it did not happen. So the reports were just unfounded rumors.
The movie’s trailer on Super Bowl 2015?
Since the movie won’t be able to ride on anything big in the theaters this January, there is now speculations that the official trailer of “Superman vs. Batman: Dawn of Justice” will air on the upcoming Super Bowl 2015 on February 1, 2015.
Now, that’s a real big event and the exposure that it would generate would be truly big and on a global scale at that. Warner Bros would be thrilled with the result for sure.
But then again, advertising on the biggest stage in football is quite expensive. Running an official trailer for a movie that will be shown more than a year yet is a costly option and could mean more expense on Warner Bros part as film outfit has to do it again sometime thereafter in all likelihood.
Warner Bros however may want to content itself by showing the official trailer on the theaters one week after the Super Bowl 2015 or on February 6 with the showing of “Jupiter Ascending.”
There is no opportunity to do it in March or April should Warner Bros does not go for February. However, it has two options in May to do it. The first one is the showing of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on May 1, 2015, and the second, the showing of “Mad Max: Fury Road” on May 15, 2015.
If the company still does not do it in May, then it is very likely that the official trailer will come out during the Comic Con International 2015 to be held in July.
