The official trailer of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” will have an original music composed by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL or Tom Holkenborg.
Reports have it that the official trailer of the movie will come out on May 15 attached to the Warner Bros’ “Mad Max: Fury Road.”
Holkenborg confirmed the information via Twitter when he tweeted that he and Hans Zimmer mixed the trailer of the upcoming DC Comics superhero movie, slated for release on March 25, 2016. He also mentioned in his tweet that he wrote the original music along with Hans Zimmer.
The news comes as quite surprising because often, trailers do not feature original music from films since the musical score is composed after the picture cut. But in the case of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” Zimmer and Holkenbog worked on the musical score while the film was being edited, reports Latin Post.
Zimmer has been widely regarded in the Warner Bros circle for composing the musical scores for other DC superhero movies including “Man of Steel,” and “The Dark Knight” trilogy. He was the one who wrote the theme for Superman but was not the one who did it for Batman.
He explained then that his decision not to do the theme for Batman is because he previously worked with Christopher Nolan’s Batman series and it was just too soon for him to create another theme. It was Tom Holkenborg who wrote the theme for the latest Batman series after Zimmer asked him to pitch in on his behalf.
Their collaboration for “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is definitely of historic magnitude, befitting a major blockbuster for next year.
Release date confirmation
While Warner Bros has yet to make a confirmation of the release date of the official trailer for “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” there have been reports last week that the movie will really come out on May 15, consistent with Holkenborg’s tweet.
Warner Bros apparently wants the time frame from May 15 onwards all to itself since releasing the trailer earlier, would have it compete for attention and also comparison with Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” which will be showing on May 1.
As early as December last year, there have been reports that the trailer of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” has been leaked on the TV bulletin board called 4chan. But it was just for a matter of hours as reports have it that Warner Bros pulled the plug on it even before many people could see it.
Then in January, another leaked trailer of the movie was again posted on 4chan which additionally featured Aquaman, played by Jason Momoa, The Flash, played by Ezra Miller, and Cyborg, played by Ray Fisher.
Based on reports of those who were able to see the supposed leaked trailer ahead of the rest, it opened with Superman fighting the Kryptonians amid chaos and destruction in the metropolis as Ben Affleck narrates and says: “The world has changed with the arrival of the Kryptonians.”
It then cuts to the batsuit as Ben Affleck continues to narrate and ask whether Superman is here to save or destroy the planet. And then he says “I’m going to find out.” Then the logo of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” appears.
