Astute movie fan Ryan Taylor may have become privy to the friendly one-upmanship between Directors J.J. Abrams of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and Zack Snyder of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” in cross-promoting their respective movie on social media that he decided to outdo them both.
Taylor has come up with a mash-up trailer of the two movies which he then called as “Batman vs. Superman Force Awakens.”
The film footage was actually from the upcoming Warner Bros movie based on DC Comics, but its music and voice-over were from the upcoming epic space opera. The result was really superb and fans of both movies are surely delighted, notes Slash Film.
It would be really interesting to know how J.J. Abrams and Zack Snyder would react to the mash-up trailer because it surely put their friendly rivalry in the shadows.
Co-promoting each other’s film
Snyder and Abrams have a friendly and fun rivalry in terms of promoting each other’s film that started way back in July of last year.
It was actually Snyder who started the fun rivalry rolling when he posted an obviously photoshopped imaged of Henry Cavill as a Jedi knight. Abrams then responded by posting an image of John Boyega as Batman.
They have been going at it since then, much to the delight of the fans of the two upcoming movies, but it seems that Abrams has the last say up until this point following his posting of a video recently showing the Batmobile attached to the Millennium Falcon.
Snyder said that they are looking at releasing a new trailer for “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” soon because he hopes to up the ante in his rivalry with Abrams. He was obviously referring to the new trailer of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” which really looks awesome.
The last trailer of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” featured a glimpse of the story of Wonder Woman. It also showed an encounter between Diana Prince, the alter ego of Wonder Woman, and Bruce Wayne.
Themes mix well with the visuals
The visuals of “Batman vs. Superman Force Awakens” mash-up trailer perfectly mix well with “Star Wars” themes. No wonder, the footage is really scintillatingly great.
In the mash-up trailer, Batman is the dark side while Superman is the Jedi which is pretty much consistent with the previous tease of Zack Snyder where he actually made the Man of Steel a Super Jedi.
It can also be noted that the lighter and more heroic themes really match with Superman perfectly while the more sinister Empire musical cues suit Batman well too.
Meanwhile, Moviepilot has been dissecting the desert scene in the full-length trailer of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” where Batman is shown being ganged up by what appear to be super soldiers who happen to have the Superman logo on the forearm of their suits.
The outlet is entertaining two theories about the particular scene. The first speculation is that the scene is a dream sequence or a nightmare of the Caped Crusader.
While the second speculation is that the so-called Superman soldiers are the handiwork of Lex Luthor. It was also shown in the trailer that the Man of Steel knelt down before Luthor and he was also seen being bowed upon by the super soldiers.
Accordingly, everything is part of Luthor’s smear campaign against Superman. Considering his strength, Superman does not need any soldier to help him out with his superhero work. But it seems that Luthor got the better of Superman because of a piece of kryptonite that practically made the Man of Steel his slave.
