Jason Momoa, the actor who is playing the role of superhero Aquaman in the upcoming DC movie “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” appears to have taken the competition between DC and Marvel superheroes to the next level.
While DC Comics and their counterpart in Marvel have always had friendly competition over the years, it appears that only hardliner fans would like to get the rivalry to the next level, to determine once and for all who among their bunch of superheroes are better.
It seems that Jason Momoa is one of those hardliner DC fanatics and he simply does not want to hear anything about Marvel, or so it seems in his latest public appearance.
The actor recently attended the Indiana Comic Con event held at the Indianapolis Convention Center from March 13 to 15. One fan approached Jason and asked him to sign the recently-released ‘Unite the Seven’ poster. The plea for autograph also came with a special request to the actor. He was asked to cite a reason why all the DC haters out there should consider joining the DC universe.
Jason gamely obliged and with that he signed his autograph on the poster and put his answer too by pitching ‘F—k Marvel!’
It was not clear how the fan took the message but considering how hardliner a DC fan he was, he was probably delighted with the straight-forward remark of the Aquaman.
Nothing serious
Although Jason Momoa may have taken the competition between DC and Marvel to the next level, it would hardly mean anything especially if nobody from the Marvel side makes a big fuss about it.
But if there’s somebody from Marvel side who can take a battle of words to the next level, it is no other than Robert Downey Jr., the actor who plays Iron Man, and who will be appearing in the upcoming Marvel movie, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” due to hit theaters on May 1, 2015, notes Screen Crush.
Although DC and Warner Bros would have prefer that the actor did not write it that way and make the first assault on Marvel, they have to take into account that Jason Momoa is a colorful actor himself and a non-conformist type of person. In all likelihood, he was just having fun during the moment and it’s not really a big deal to Marvel and its throngs of fans if they don’t take it too seriously.
Good for the fans
If any, what Jason Momoa did was to raise the competition between DC and Marvel to the next level where each side would try to outdo the other in terms of movie offerings, new characters, and better stories.
When that happens, then there would be a deluge of great superhero movies coming eveybody’s ways and that is really good for superhero fans of all ages.
The competition between Marvel and DC has been of kid stuff before and having it now will not only be good for the young ones but also the sentimental fans, the young at heart, of the two superhero comic franchises.
