Anybody who’s going up against Superman, regardless of whether he’s a super hero himself or not, should be displaying his entire fighting arsenal in terms of martial arts and other hand-to-hand combat skills.
Apparently, Ben Affleck’s Batman character in “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” will be doing just that as he goes up against the Man of Steel, played by Henry Cavill.
It’s the kind of Batman character that fans have been so used to seeing and reading in the comic books and it looks like they will be able to see such on the big screen when “Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice” hits the theaters on March 25, 2016, reveals Tech Times.
These revelations came from Guillermo Grispo, the fight coordinator for “Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.” He promised fans, which have been waiting for a true comic book Batman to finally come out in the movies, that they will not be disappointed with Ben Affleck’s character in the upcoming film.
A swinging Batman
Batman will come out in the movie swinging, and swinging hard he will, especially against an opponent like Superman.
Grispo, who also worked with Director Zack Snyder in other films such as “300” and “Man of Steel,” says that the new Batman will be twice removed from realism and old technology of the 80s and 90s. So he will be using all his hand-to-hand fighting skills and won’t be holding anything back since he is going up against Superman.
The fight coordinator said that Batman is very good with martial arts. The past Batman movies did not exploit those skills of the Caped Crusader as they focused instead on his gadgets and other tehno-gizmos to do the crime-fighting on his behalf.
In “Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice,” Batman gets to showcase his hand-to-hand fighting prowess which, according to Grispo, were made with better choreography, effective camera movements, and technical savvy on camera handling.
A different Caped Crusader
Ben Affleck’s Batman will be different from the Batman of Christian Bale in the sense that, for the first time, the new Caped Crusader will be fighting similar to the character in the DC comic books.
Director Christopher Nolan, in his Batman trilogy, namely “Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight,” and “The Dark Knight Rises,” chose to limit the Caped Crusader character to realistic world, thus limiting the fighting capability of the character and not being able to do other superhero stuff.
Fans would surely love seeing a comic-book Batman in the movies. Whether what Grispo disclosed was true or not, it sure gave another reason for fans to further get excited with the upcoming film.
Apart from Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana, the other powerhouse cast members of the film include Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Jessa Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, and many others.
