‘Batman: Arkham VR’ to Take Role-Playing Game to a Whole New Level of Gaming, Says Developer!

Game developer Rocksteady Studios and game publisher Warner Bros Interactive first made the announcement on “Batman: Arkham VR” during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 held in California in June.

During the Gamescom 2016 held in Cologne, Germany more than a week ago, players were able to test-play the game.

While most of the players were impressed with the game’s virtual reality (VR) environment, some of them can only say so much about the game itself.

Rocksteady Studios is preparing to launch the game on the PlayStation VR on October 13 by saying that “Batman: Arkham VR” is the first step in bringing the “Batman: Arkham” video game franchise to the PlayStation VR.

It is possible that Rocksteady is alluding that it might eventually come out with VR versions of its Batman games including “Arkham Asylum,” “Arkham City,” “Arkham Origins,” and the latest to be released last year, “Batman: Arkham Knight.”

The game developer says that “Batman: Arkham VR” could be a huge transition of a role-playing game to a whole new level of gaming, reports the Parent Herald.

Taking on Batman’s cowl and experience

As the name and the technology imply, players will become the virtual Batman that they have longed to be in “Batman: Arkham VR.”

They will virtually put on Batman’s cowl and experience and will actually become their favorite superhero themselves.

During the trailer released at the Gamescom 2016, players wore not only the Batman cowl but also the Batman suit and also some tools on their belts including the Batarang and the forensic scanner.

It was a killer introduction at the event for “Batman: Arkham VR” and it eventually set off other players into playing the game as they move outside Arkham City and started playing like they were the Caped Crusaders individually.

The game is now available for pre-order at $19.99 and it would have the same price when it comes out on the PlayStation VR on October 13.

Not as impressive as it looks

However, there are critics who are saying that the new “Batman: Arkham VR” is not as impressive as it looks.

One gamer posted a gameplay breakdown of the game on YouTube and some fans and critics now believe that he has a legitimate point in his contention.

The gamer said that whenever Batman is involved, there should be gliding and fistfights, but in “Batman: Arkham VR,” players cannot actually do what the real Batman does.

They cannot grapple gun, the Batarangs are useless, and the playable character cannot even drive the Bat Mobile in the game.

The gamer went on to generalize that “Batman: Arkham VR” is primarily a detective game that runs for an hour. He said that the developer should put in the title the word ‘Detective’ because keeping it as “Batman: Arkham VR” only would mislead a lot of gamers especially those who are familiar with the “Batman: Arkham” video game franchise.

Some other players who tried the game during Gamescom 2016 said that it was to their liking because “Batman: Arkham VR” immersed them in the Dark Knight’s universe and help redefined for them what it means to be a Batman, notes Comingsoon.net.

They also stated that they were able to experience Gotham City through the eyes of the world’s greatest detective in an all new Arkham mystery.

The satisfied gamers also said that the game enabled them to think like the Caped Crusader while utilizing his legendary gadgets in virtual reality to unravel a plot that threatens the lives of Batman’s closest allies and the people of Gotham City.

Indicative of their appreciation for the game and some other critics, “Batman: Arkham VR” was actually adjudged as the winner of the first ever E3 Game Critics Award for Best VR Game.
