“Batman: Arkham Knight” might have suffered from a poorly polished launch on the PC that was full of bugs and issues, but that certainly wasn’t the overall case for its console version, which was mostly smooth and nicely tested. And still, games are the type of software that’s practically impossible to make 100% bug-free, as players will always find ways to exploit the system and take advantage of loopholes for fun.
Recently, we’ve been seeing a new bug roaming around the Internet, discovered by a player from reddit who has apparently found a way to grant himself free roaming capabilities around Gotham City, but as Robin instead of Batman. The glitch is actually quite strange and requires some particular steps to be activated, but its results are pretty humorous overall.
Hopefully the developers don’t plan on fixing this as it seems to bring a lot of joy to the game’s community, and players have been sharing their own videos of using the glitch to check out different parts of the city as Robin. However, judging by the fact that they’re currently actively trying to resolve the issues with the PC version, this is probably eating into their time more than enough for them to even consider looking at smaller bugs like this one at the moment.
How is the PC version actually doing lately? While reports claim that it’s far from actually being finished and properly polished, there’s at least some progress with the latest patch, apparently. It addresses various issues that have been plaguing the title since its release day, and according to reports, it’s actually in quite the playable condition at this point and those who’ve been avoiding it due to its original problems should at least give it a second try.
However, on the other hand it’s still not available for sale on Steam, so it either doesn’t match Valve’s standards to be allowed on the platform at this point, or the developers feel like they could still do a lot more to improve its quality and make it work better.
The latter is probably closer to the truth, from what we can tell, and as soon as the developers have managed to address the full list of major issues that have been troubling their players from the beginning, this title should definitely be given another chance by both players as well as reviewers.
Because it’s pretty clear that it has a lot to offer to fans of Batman and gamers in general – the console versions that work with relatively few issues make that point clear. But of course, it doesn’t make much sense to give the game a high score when reviewing it just because it has good gameplay in general, when players are unable to experience that gameplay in the first place. We don’t know if reviewers are planning to give the game a reevaluation once the full patch is completed, but it will definitely make sense.
Meanwhile, some players have been discussing which of their favorite characters from the Batman universe they want to see in future DLC releases for the game, and there are various suggestions being brought up all the time, but the most notable ones seem to be Bane and Mr. Freeze. However, some players seem to be longing for some of the older characters from the franchise whom we haven’t seen for a while now, such as the Penguin.
