The upcoming “Avengers: Infinity War” seems to be shaping up quite nicely, and we’ve been getting some interesting reports from the set recently. It looks like more familiar characters are going to make an appearance in the film, and according to a teaser released by none other than Vin Diesel, we may even see a fight between Groot and the Hulk.
That shouldn’t actually be too surprising to those who’ve been following the original comic books closely, as that particular fight was already featured there. Still, seeing it presented on the big screen is a completely different story, and many fans are excited to see how the producers are going to handle that scene.
Groot in particular managed to become a fan-favorite thanks to the Internet in recent years, and the decision to include him in an upcoming film, especially one as large as “Avengers: Infinity War”, is sure to be a winning move by the producers. Of course, that also hinges on how well the fight scene between him and the Hulk is handled.
Speaking of Hulk, there have been some interesting rumors about the character recently as well. He’s gone through lots of changes and different iterations over the years, although his basic characteristics ultimately stay the same. It’s possible that the new film could portray him in a slightly different light however – and even if the change is a darker one, it should still be a welcome fresh take on his character.
Back to Groot, there have been reports that a spin-off could possibly be in the talks behind the scenes, but we have no specific information on that project. Some fans are apparently hopeful that the rumors are based on something that’s already happening, but even if there is something in the works at the moment, we’ll likely not hear about it until 2017 in the earliest.
Groot’s popularity definitely predisposes to something like that though, so the probability is not low. Fans should be on the lookout for any rumors in the coming months, especially ones that talk about Groot alongside Rocket.
Most discussions about “Avengers: Infinity War” at the moment are strangely focused on the possibility of a Groot spin-off. But considering that Vin Diesel addressed the issue directly, it looks like people behind the scenes are already well aware of what fans want. On the other hand, Diesel did mention that the situation is more complex than fans are guessing, and there are multiple people involved in the final decision. As a result, the possibility of the project getting a green light is currently relatively low, but we never know what might happen a few months from now. And, as we mentioned above, it’s also worth remembering that these are just the words of Vin Diesel, who could be trying to mislead his fans.
Marvel seem to have their eyes firmly set on the “Avengers” line for now though, and they already have two releases lined up. “Avengers: Infinity War” is going to come out in two years, in May 2018. It will be followed by a sequel in one year, and the studio’s plans beyond that aren’t too specific at the moment. At least not on the public side, anyway – there is no shortage of rumors about what might be happening behind the scenes.
