In the first film, Dr. Augustine is an exobiologist spearheading the Avatar program. She led expeditions to get unobtanium and also served as Jake Sully’s mentor and pseudo diplomat to the Na’vi.
Cameron has yet to make an official statement regarding Weaver’s rumored new role in “Avatar 2” but it would be interesting to find out of indeed the actress is going to get a villain role.
However, all these are speculations pending the confirmation from Cameron or any of the cast members of “Avatar 2.”
Meanwhile, James Cameron has recently offered his opinion regarding the direction of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
He said that he felt that George Lucas’ six films had more innovative visual imagination, while the one directed by JJ Abrams is more of a retrenchment to the things that fans and viewers had seen before.
Cameron added that “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” took a few baby steps forward with new characters. He said that the jury is out and that he wants to see where they go with it.
However, he refused to say further comment out of his respect for Abrams and his good friend George Lucas.
