Avatar 2 Could Get a Bit Dark, New Rumors about a Theme of Captivity, And More!

But it’s also possible that Cameron might decide to expand the story further than that. Even if he does realize “Avatar” as a trilogy, the director may still have additional ideas for the story afterwards and he could release another film to work those out.

Whether or not that would be a direct “sequel” to the trilogy or something that branches off the story in a completely different direction, we don’t know – and it’s certainly too early to make such predictions. After all, “Avatar 2” isn’t even close to coming out yet.

But one of the most interesting points for discussion among fans has been the need for new technology expressed by Cameron. Fans have been arguing over what the director could be planning to do with his advanced tech, and what kinds of ideas he’s trying to implement that he’s currently unable to, other than the massive underwater scenes.

Perhaps 2016 will be a more fruitful year for solid rumors about the production, as we expect that it would pick up the pace during that time and there will be more developments to talk about. It’s really a bit too early to discuss the potential future of the film right now, although we wouldn’t be surprised if Cameron came out with some extra information towards the end of the year.
