Avatar 2 Could Get a Bit Dark, New Rumors about a Theme of Captivity, And More!

A lot has been said about the production of “Avatar 2”, and while the film is most likely still a long way off, there have been various rumors about what its plot could involve and the kinds of new developments we can expect to see in the story. From what we’ve heard previously, James Cameron is apparently still juggling various ideas around and trying to figure out what to keep for the plot of the new film, while on the other hand he’s been waiting for certain advances in rendering technology before he would be able to fully implement the kinds of ideas that he has on his mind.

And now we’re hearing a peculiar rumor about the theme of the new film, claiming that it’s going to take on a darker tone and feature a theme of a prison. Apparently, this won’t be just a random element to the plot but an actual important part of the story that will be discussed in detail and this will be a central part of everything being told on the screen.

It’s worth noting that the claim seems to be just a random rumor right now, although it’s coming from official sources – the artist who has been contracted for the official poster of the film. However, it’s not at all clear what this prison theme could be related to, and there have been claims that it could be a prison for holding humans or Na’vi creatures.

Both stories would be plausible given what we saw in the original “Avatar”, and James Cameron could continue his story about humans invading another world quite successfully if he added darker elements like a prison. Some fans have pointed out that this might even have stronger implications, reflecting on current events around the world and in the United States in particular, a country that has significant issues with its prison system.

But in any case we’re likely not going to hear anything official about the film for a long time. Its production has been coming along rather slowly and there is still a lot of work left to be done, and Cameron himself is reportedly currently stuck because he needs more powerful and advanced technology in order to realize the goals he has in mind.

What we’ve heard about his ideas previously involved some grand underwater scenes and much richer environments than what we saw in the original film, and this could explain why he needs access to better technology. In addition, there have been claims that the film might see a significant upgrade in its overall visual fidelity.

Which would only make sense, considering how long it’s been since the original “Avatar” came out. It looked amazing back then, but technology has advanced a lot, and we’ve reached the point where we can get almost the same graphics quality from a game being rendered in real time. So there should really be no doubt that Cameron will improve the way the film looks as a whole.

Currently, it’s expected that “Avatar” will be turned into a trilogy, with the first sequel coming out in 2017, followed by the next one in 2018. The claims about a trilogy are just rumors so far, but they have come from several seemingly independent sources so there seems to be some truth to them after all. It would also make sense with regards to some previous rumors that we’ve heard about the films.
