Series director Tetsuro Araki has stated that he preferred the second season to premiere on winter which would align with Selecta Vision’s statement that it might indeed premiere by January 2017.
According to rumors, the real reason behind the delay is to give way to a new animation series created by the Wit Studio, the same studio where “Attack on Titan” is produced.
Apparently, Araki is also the one spearheading a new anime series entitled “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.” Araki confirmed that his new series will only last 12 episodes long.
Reports say that Araki is probably focused on one project right now and that he may have chosen to prioritize “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress” above “Attack on Titan.”
Christian Post reports that Araki’s new project and “Attack on Titan” has a lot of distinct similarities. For one, both series uses a weapon to kill the monsters and it infects the main characters.
To relieve the appetite of the fans, Forbes had announced bonus features for the upcoming Western release of “Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom.” The website states that the manga costume of Eren and Levi will be included on a pre-order basis.
While these seem to have slightly appeased fans, the demand for Season 2 of “Attack on Titan” is still at an all-time high.
