While the second season of “Attack on Titan” is still a long time away, fans of the show have been quite excited, and have been eagerly discussing the possibilities for the upcoming seasons on the most popular messaging boards. The first season of the show was already incredibly successful – much more than most were anticipating, in fact – and the producers have apparently realized that they have a lot of eyes on them for season 2, requiring them to really work hard in order to please their fans.
The second season was initially planned to come out sooner, although these plans were scrapped at some point, when the studio decided to make some drastic changes to the structure of the episodes. The new adjustments apparently required a lot of time to implement, pushing back the schedule by almost a full year. Season 2 is now scheduled for 2016, and hopefully, no further setbacks will come up along the way, and the producers will be able to meet the new deadline properly.
Fans won’t be left completely in the dark for that duration though – there are some additional releases related to the franchise planned in the meantime, most notably “Attack on Titan: No Regrets”. This is a two-part animation not directly tied to the main show, although still part of the franchise, and the first part was release in Japan on December 9. The second part is scheduled for a few months later, and if everything goes according to plan, it should come out on April 9.
After that, “Attack on Titan Part II: Wings of Freedom” is scheduled for June 27, so fans will definitely have some exciting new content to keep them occupied as they’re waiting for season 2 of the main show. Sure, the period after June will still be a bit empty, but it’s much better than waiting a whole year without anything new to watch, especially for a show with as much exciting potential as this one.
Last but not least, there are also reports of a special crossover between “Attack on Titan” and Marvel’s universe, something else fans have been looking forward to quite excitedly. The way fans react to the release will actually matter quite a lot, as it will reportedly be the main determining factor in deciding the future of that specific part of the franchise. It seems that “Attack on Titan” is getting developed on all fronts quite actively, and this can only be good news for dedicated fans of the franchise, as it seems that they will eventually be treated to plenty of exciting new content that should satisfy the appetite of even the hungriest ones.
