Japanese network Mainichi Broadcasting System has yet to announce the airing date of Season 2 of the popular anime “Attack on Titan” adapted from the manga of the same title by Hajime Isayama, but fans are already getting extremely excited about it especially when a leaked sneak peek of “Attack on Titan” Season 2 was posted on YouTube recently.
The video showed Hange’s immense presence in the clip. Protagonist Eren Jagger was also shown towards the end of the trailer.
Indicative of how popular and highly-anticipated the second season of the anime series is, the video has already generated more than two million views as of this time and still increasing exponentially.
The trailer showed Hange and his troop noticing a titan’s face protruding from the wall. Pastor Nick told them to kill the titan with no reservations based on the commander’s order, details the Hall of Fame Magazine.
Eventually, they managed to overcome the threat from the titan. When Hange asked Pastor how the titan got stuck inside the wall, Pastor said that he was a busy man and needs to take care of his people, who are all church followers.
It was not an explanation and Hange knew that Nick was lying to him but he did not get a straight answer from the pastor. He also knew that he could not kill a pastor even if he turned out to be a traitor.
New characters for the second season
According to reports, “Attack on Titan” Season 2 shall feature new characters including Captain Kenny Ackerman, Uri Reiss, Rod Reiss, Freida Reiss, and the Beast Titan, notes Movie News Guide.
The second season’s plotline shall revolve around the king meeting the Reiss Noble family. Based on the manga source material, Uri Reiss is Rod’s younger brother and the king of mankind.
In the latter part of the story, he gives his position to his daughter, Frieda Reiss.
Despite the leaked trailer and the rumored plotline of the highly anticipated anime, “Attack on Titan” Season 2 is expected to hit the small screen next year.
The reason for the delay
The first season of “Attack on Titan” was first aired on the Mainichi Broadcasting System from April 7 to September 29, 2013, before it was re-aired in several local channels in Japan including Tokyo MX, FBS, TOS, HTB, TVA, and BS11.
Since then, fans have been waiting for the second season of “Attack on Titan.” From a planned release date of 2015, it was moved to this year. Now, it seems unlikely that a 2016 release date for the Japanese anime is possible.
Latest reports have it that the premiere of “Attack on Titan” is set to be aired early next year. There were even rumors saying that the TV series could air as early as January next year.
It has been reported that the cause of the delay had something to do with the TV series waiting for the manga version to complete four story arcs first before it gets aired.
Kodasha, the manga publisher of “Attack on Titan,” sort of confirmed that explanation when it stated that the second season of the Japanese anime TV series will not happen this year because the TV show does not want to jump ahead of the manga.
Selecta Vision, the producer of the TV series, also confirmed that “Attack on Titan” Season 2 will not arrive this year but is looking to air the anime in January 2017.
But if it is any consolation to the fans of the anime, a video game version of “Attack on Titan” has already been released to the PlayStation 4 bundled with several perks.
The Sony gaming platform offers “Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom” along with freebies like a selection of avatars that gamers can use while playing on the particular platform.
The Japanese release of the game has a very interesting and different bundle which includes Eren and Levi’s cleaning costume as well as the festival costume of Mikasa.
