Assassin’s Creed: Victory to Possibly Come Out at E3, Could See Changes to Combat Mechanics!

Latest rumors about “Assassin’s Creed: Victory” point towards E3 for the game’s release, and there seem to be several independent sources claiming the same thing, so the rumor is looking stronger and stronger with every day. And a lot of eyes are currently focused on the new title – there’s a lot that Ubisoft has to make up for, according to fans of the franchise, as they have recently made some less than successful releases that weren’t received entirely warmly. “Assassin’s Creed 3” didn’t perform very well when it came out, and “Assassin’s Creed: Unity” didn’t do much to fix the situation either, as it actually drew even more criticism towards Ubisoft.

Ubisoft are looking to do some serious revision of the game’s combat mechanics, as was previously reported – the main direction for this seems to be to make the combat as intuitive as possible, something that was a bit lacking in the latest entries in the series. The game started out rather simple, but as more mechanics were added to its gameplay, it became somewhat bloated in recent years, to the point where it needed a serious refinement in order to make it intuitive and smooth again.

What do fans want to see in the new game? There are various details that have been requested, some of which were present in older installments and were subsequently removed, while others were never seen in the game before. Double counter-kills are something many people would seemingly love to see, as are whistling distractions. Distracting guards has been getting more and more annoying in each installment, and people were particularly disappointed by the feature’s implementation in “Unity”, so it would be good to see some refinement in this area.

In this line of thought, fans also want to see more features for dealing with guards, such as disarming them and taking them out bare-handed. This could be bundled together with the rumored improvements to the combat system, but there’s generally a lot that Ubisoft could do to make the game’s combat feel more flexible and developed. At the same time, there could be plot-related reasons for making the protagonist weaker in combat.

Assassin's Creed Victory

Summing up the most prominent lists of requested features, it seems that fans want Ubisoft to focus on the game’s fighting mechanics above all else. Other things that get mentioned frequently include more interesting settings – it would be good to see more levels in present-day locations, for example – as well as more meaningful interactions with other characters. Although, that last point sounds a bit questionable, as it’s never been the main focus of the series in the first place.
