However, fans shouldn’t expect to see the most prominent characters from the games, namely Altair, Ezio or Connor. Whether or not that’s for the better of the film, we don’t know – but we do hope that the new characters that have been introduced can make up for the ones that are missing.
One more thing that was discussed by people attached to the project was that the film is being carefully prepared in a way that should not overwhelm viewers who’re not familiar with the game series. This is important in order to ensure that it can integrate itself into the film industry properly, as we’ve seen with other adaptations before.
Because it sometimes happens that a film based on a game is just too full of references to the game and requires lots of specific knowledge to fully understand what’s going on.
And while that might be enjoyable to fans of the game itself, the film will usually fail to attract any viewers from outside that circle, which in turn significantly limits its potential for success on the market. That doesn’t seem to be the case with the “Assassin’s Creed” movie judging by the way it’s being produced, but of course we need to wait until it’s actually been released to see if it will stand on its own.
