Team Arrow is facing arguably its greatest threat in the current Season 4 of the American superhero TV series “Arrow” on The CW in Damien Darhk, played by Neal McDonough.
Since episode 5 of “Arrow” titled “Haunted,” Team Arrow headed by Oliver Queen, played by Stephen Amell, has been calling in reinforcements for their cause. On that episode, they brought in John Constantine, played by Matt Ryan, to help restore Sara’s soul which was taken over by Darhk.
In episode 6 and 7, Team Arrow needed the help of Ray Palmer, played by Brandon Routh, a.k.a. the ATOM, to extract Andy from the mind-control of Darhk.
The upcoming episode 8 of “Arrow” to be aired on December 2 titled “The Legends of Today” will be the crossover episode with “The Flash” which means that Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin, and a couple of other speedsters will be the featured reinforcements for Team Arrow.
After episode 9, titled “Dark Waters,” slated to be aired on December 9, “Arrow” will take its mid-season break, but its return to The CW has yet to be announced.
Still at it
It seems like executive producer Marc Guggenheim is not yet through with bringing reinforcements to Team Arrow this season as it is already confirmed that Roy Harper, played by Colton Haynes, will return on the second half of Season 4 of “Arrow.”
Roy Harper was a sidekick to Stephen Amell’s Arrow last season before he left and gifted his Arsenal costume to Thea Queen, who eventually changed it to become Speedy, notes Comicbook.com.
It was actually Colton Haynes himself who confirmed his appearance on Season 4 of “Arrow” when he tweeted on November 20 that he just landed in Vancouver, Canada to begin filming on the popular TV series again.
He posted on Twitter that he is so excited to be back on the show. Colton’s re-appearance is sure to happen in either one or a couple of episodes on the second half of Season 4 of “Arrow” next year, cites Screen Rant.
For his part, Guggenheim issued a statement recently and said that he and the show are beyond thrilled that Colton will be returning to “Arrow.” He revealed that it was the show’s intention to have him return following his character’s departure during the Season 3 finale.
The showrunner, however, added that it was all a matter of finding the right storyline to pull it off and pave the way for the return of Colton Haynes. He said that, just like the fans and viewers of the TV series, he can’t wait to see the reunion of Roy Harper with Team Arrow.
A much-needed help
The return of Roy Harper may provide the much-needed help to Team Arrow for Thea, played by Willa Holland, to get back to her real self. She appears to have changed after her dip at the Lazarus Pit during the previous season.
Harper’s similar experience with Mirakuru-induced bloodlust during Season 2 may provide Team Arrow the answer to help Thea work through her problems. It is also possible that the common ground for the solution to Thea’s woes may also help rekindle her and Roy’s love life.
But then, it would be interesting also to see how Alex Davis, played by Parker Young, would react to this rumored rekindling of romance thing between Thea and Roy.
There are also speculations that Roy Harper’s return to “Arrow” could be a way for the show to finally kill off his character as the season premiere of the series had a scene where Oliver is seen mourning the death of an ally.
It’s kind of harsh really, but it’s one of those emotional punches or curve balls that the TV series throws at its viewers every now and then. But then that is mere speculation at this point in time.
