Since the premiere of the fourth season of “Arrow,” fans were already teased that a major death was coming.
Now, fans only have to wait until Wednesday next week to uncover the season-long mystery the show has been keeping.
As a refresher, the final scene of the Season 4 premiere featured Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen standing in a grave and then Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin, shows up to comfort him.
Fans thought it was initially Felicity because the person was obviously someone very close to Oliver’s heart, but further episodes revealed that when Oliver headed back to the car, Felicity was inside which ultimately relieved fans.
Felicity says that Oliver should take revenge for the death of the yet unknown character. This means that someone close to both of them is the one in the grave.
Episode 18, titled “Eleven Fifty-Nine,” hints that a major crisis is coming up in terms of what Oliver and David Ramsay’s Diggle are planning to do with Malcolm Merlyn, played by John Barrowman.
The CW released the synopsis for the episode and it suggests that Oliver and Diggle will learn of Merlyn’s plan to break Neal McDonough’s Damien Darhk out of prison and it hints that things will really get intense.
Katie Cassidy’s Laurel gets a surprising offer and Emily Bett Rickards’ Felicity has a heart-to-heart talk with her loyal assistant Curtis, played by Echo Kellum.
The network has also released the promo for the episode and Laurel’s voice is heard saying the time of death pertaining to the episode title.
The promo showed Willa Holland’s Thea fighting off her father and Diggle pointing a gun to Andy with the latter saying that his brother thinks he’s a traitor.
Cartermatt confirmed that the mystery of who is in the grave is going to be unraveled in the upcoming episode.
TV Fanatic suggests that since there hasn’t been any flash-forward scene involving Diggle, it puts him on the top of the list of who is in that grave.
It was long suspected that one member of Team Arrow will bid goodbye this season. International Business Times notes that The Flash’ appearance somehow confirms that Diggle indeed will die.
Barry and Diggle also have a good relationship especially since the two have worked well together when Diggle and Laila dropped by Central City.
The website notes that the entrance of Diggle’s brother Andy, who was initially thought to be dead, doesn’t sound like an impossibility.
The younger Diggle, played by Eugene Byrd, was revealed to be alive and a highly connected member of HIVE, the organization his older brother thought was responsible for his death.
Speculations say that Oliver and Diggle’s confrontation with Merlyn and Darhk will ultimately lead to his death. Other rumors point to Andy taking away his own brother’s life and betraying the team at the same time.
The promo also teases that the episode will mark an end of an era with Oliver saying that the team’s falling apart and Laurel telling him that he knows exactly the danger of getting in between two brothers.
Reports say that this pertains to the original Team Arrow if Diggle is indeed the one who will meet his demise. Even if Felicity decided to rejoin the team, it will never be the same again.
During episode 17, entitled “Beacon of Hope,” Emily Kinney’s Brie Larvan, who appeared in the first season of “The Flash” orchestrated her release and visited Star City in search of the bio-mechanical chip that is being used to allow Felicity to walk.
Brie, a metahuman, wreaks havoc on Palmer Tech and hostages the board until Felicity was left with no choice but to come out.
