Seven episodes down in its fourth season, “Arrow” has seen the comeback of a slew of characters. The third episode saw the resurrection of Caity Lotz’ Sara Lance also known as the original Black Canary through Nanda Parbat’s Lazarus Pit. Episode six saw the rescue of Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer, thanks to Felicity and Curtis.
Interestingly, Diggle’s brother Andy turned out to be alive and was revealed to be a changed person upon the show’s seventh episode.
The character has been mentioned since the first season by David Ramsey’s John Diggle, but Andy, played by Eugene Byrd, only appeared in the current fourth season.
The CW confirmed that another fan-favorite character will be returning to Star City in Season 4. Colton Haynes, who plays Roy Harper a.k.a. the Arsenal is set to make a comeback on the season’s 12th episode titled “Unchained.”
The 27-year-old actor recently confirmed he’s returning to “Arrow” by tweeting that he’s back on the set of the show again.
However, along with Harper’s return marks the arrival of a new villain. International Business Times reports that “Everwood” star Tom Amandes will play the villain called The Calculator, taken from the DC Comics, for a story arc during the season.
The most important element about Amandes’ character is that he will be used to bring Roy back to Star City and eventually to Team Arrow.
The new villain is set for a two-episode appearance beginning episode 12. The city’s latest bad guy is described as a super genius and a criminal mastermind.
Apparently, The Calculator, also known as Noah Kuttler, will be using his advanced skills in computer science and internet manipulation to blackmail the Arrow’s former sidekick to come out of his hiding and reunite with his old life.
Haynes left the show in Season 3 after his character faked his own death to save Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen to be discovered as the green-hooded vigilante.
E! Online reports that the “Teen Wolf” actor initially signed for two years, but the writers knew Colton enjoyed his role so they left the doors open for him to come back to The CW hit show.
Speaking to TV Line, executive producer Marc Guggenheim expressed his happiness that Colton will be returning this season.
Guggenheim adds that it was always the team’s intention to have him back, it was just a matter of finding the right storyline to pull it off.
Fans are now eager to see how Roy will react when he sees Thea taking over his red suit and his crime-fighting job in the city.
Reports say that this won’t sit well with Roy, but it is unlikely so as he purposely left her his red suit before his departure in Season 3.
What probably won’t sit well with Roy is Thea’s bloodlust. Reports say that the former Team Arrow member will find a way to end his former flame’s thirst to kill.
Show writer Wendy Mericle hinted that when Roy find himself back in Star City, he will be in some fairly difficult situation especially when he notices that Thea is starting to fall for his brother’s campaign manager.
While fans would have to wait for the show’s 12th episode to see Roy, the upcoming episode of “Arrow” will feature a much-anticipated crossover episode with “The Flash.”
Christian Post reports that the anticipated team-up of Oliver Queen and Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin, will once again be seen, this time to take down a villain named Vandal.
The heroes’ reunion will begin with “The Flash” upcoming episode titled “Legends of Today.” The second part will be on the eighth episode of “Arrow” titled “Legends of Yesterday.” The title of both episodes is a prelude to The CW’s upcoming DC Comic-based series “Legends of Tomorrow.”
