As the release date of the new season of “The Walking Dead” approaches, speculation about various plot details for the show has been on the rise rapidly. One of the things fans seem most interested in is the nature of the new antagonists that will be introduced in the upcoming season. So far, the most prominent theory has been that Negan would be the new force of evil – but more recently, rumors have started to surface stating that The Whisperers are what fans should be worried about instead.
For those who’ve missed the relevant episodes and parts of the comics, The Whisperers are a secretive group of survivors who have integrated themselves with the walkers all over Washington DC. They have perfected the art of disguising themselves as walkers, using their skins in order to conceal their identities and remain undetected by the undead.
This gives the group an obvious strategic advantage over everyone else, but it’s been rumored that their ability to blend in with the walkers is going to play an even more serious, unexpected role in the new season. It remains to be seen what that is, but knowing the writers of the show, they could pull quite a lot of tricks from their sleeves.
Fans of the comic books will probably remember that the Whisperers first made an appearance in the 130th issue of the books, and there is quite a bit of information about them throughout the series, for any fans who might want to figure out where the show’s story is headed in the new season.
Meanwhile, producers of the show have been having some rather unexpected problems with one of the characters from the comic books – more specifically, Negan. Fans of the comics who remember the character would probably already infer why that is, as one of his defining features of the villain’s character is his extremely foul language.
While this wasn’t a problem of any kind in the comic books, it could cause some obvious issues when the character has to be presented on a TV show, although there are certainly various solutions to this problem. They could alter his personality a little bit to tone down the language, or they could handle his dialogue in a more creative way which implies the foul words but never specifically references them. And in any case, they have a lot of time to figure that out, as according to reports from the set, Negan isn’t going to make his appearance on the show anytime soon. Whenever the character gets introduced, there are still plenty of episodes to go until then, and subsequently, plenty of time for the writers to figure out a solution.
