“Mortal Kombat X” is coming soon – there’s about a month to go until the game is out, and excitement is getting stronger and stronger. Fans obviously want to know what they’re going to get in the new game, and while NetherRealm Studios have revealed quite a bit of information about the game already, a lot still remains unknown and up for speculation.
And while NetherRealm haven’t released any news to fill in the current gaps, there have been a few recent leaks that might shed some light on what’s coming in the new game, at least if they’re true. In a discussion thread at NeoGAF, somebody posted a screenshot showing several characters that haven’t been confirmed in any of the game’s trailers or announcements so far.
The screenshot shows Sonya Blade, Jax Briggs and Johnny Cage, plus a new model for Jax in separate pictures. There was also a picture of Frost, who is Sub-Zero’s female equivalent that was first introduced in “Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance”. The user who posted the images didn’t say anything specific about them, and they also couldn’t provide any pictures showing the characters actually fighting.
But what they did post was definitely good enough for most of the game’s fans, who have been very excitedly discussing the revelation and sharing their thoughts on the new characters. There have been other small details coming from different sources as well, such as IGN who recently posted an article that showed a screenshot of Kenshi, the blind swordsman, going up against Kotal Kahn.
Something peculiar about the new screenshot was the indicator “possessed” under the life bar for Kenshi, which immediately prompted some fans to discuss the implications this would have on the gameplay.
Fans have also been hopeful that they might see Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade and their daughter, Cassie Cage, in the same game, and if those leaks turn out to be true, that’s just what they might get in the end. However, it’s still not known if they will be usable in all of the game’s modes, or if they will be exclusive to the story mode, but in any case, simply seeing all of them together in one place would be a nice treat for all fans.
Even if we assume that those rumors are true, there are still other characters that have to be revealed which we know nothing about, and it’s actually a bit complicated to figure out who’s going to be joining the final roster and who will be left out. There is no shortage of rumors about that, and until the game is released, fans will just have to keep speculating.
