After the launching of the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September last year, everybody was talking about what was the next flagship smartphone from the American tech giant.
Initial reports suggest that the Cupertino-based tech company would be rolling out the iPhone 7 but eventually the rumors fizzled out. Subsequently, it was the iPhone 6S that made it to the rumor mill which was carried on to this year.
Reports have it that the iPhone 6S will be launched in September 2015, to give the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus its customary one-year cycle in the retail market that Apple normally gives its flagship smartphone.
However, new rumors have started springing up to indicate that Apple will not just be launching the iPhone 6S in September 2015 but actually two more iPhones including the iPhone 6S Plus and the iPhone 6C.
Of the two additional iPhones, only the iPhone 6S Plus seems to be off-tangent because it is not supported by any history in the Apple smartphone line. There has already been an iPhone 5S and an iPhone 5C so it would not be surprising if an iPhone 6S and an iPhone 6C come out.
But then again, iPhone 6S Plus could also be possible considering that it was only in September last year that Apple launched the iPhone 6 Plus, which is the newest brand for its smartphone.
Rumored features and specifications
Initial rumored feature of the iPhone 6C is that it would come with a 4-inch display screen which goes against the latest thrust of Apple to make its flagship smartphones bigger.
Word has it that since it would be smaller, the iPhone 6C will actually come out more affordable than the pricier iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus.
The iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus would feature upgraded processors compared to its predecessors – the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. The idea is to be able to keep up or be at par with the latest flagship smartphones counterparts in the market like the HTC One M9 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, notes the Mirror.
It would be the smaller iPhone 6C who shall be maintaining the current A8 processor that currently powers the iPhone 6 to ensure that its overall cost remains competitive and thus can be priced lower than its competitors.
It is widely believed that Apple will be positioning the iPhone 6C as a midrange handset, which has become both competitive and lucrative as of late.
Latest rumors also suggest that the supposedly upcoming three iPhones from Apple shall all feature the Touch ID fingerprint scanner and the mobile payment system Apple Pay, among other standard apps.
However, Apple has yet to confirm all these rumors. So for the time being, these information should be considered as mere speculations.
