Apple Watch 2 Possibly 20% to 40% Thinner than its Predecessor, Latest Rumors Say!

The Apple Watch 2 is being rumored to come out next month at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2016 so the reports about the next wearable from the American tech giant have practically been flooding the internet.

Apple shall be holding the WWDC 2016 on June 13 at the Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco as well as at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium about a mile away.

According to the latest rumors, Apple Watch 2 shall be 20% to 40% thinner than its predecessor but other than the thickness, there would be no drastic changes on the upcoming device compared to the Apple Watch that was launched in March last year.

It was actually reputable Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, who confirmed that Apple fans should not be expecting big design overhaul for the upcoming Apple Watch 2.

The Apple Watch will reportedly adopt the same upgrade cycle as the iPhone and shall also feature an S model that shall feature hardware updates and to be released in alternate years to the major developments.

With that being said, Ming Chi-Kuo projected that the Apple Watch 2 will come with minor design changes but will boast of brand new specs underneath, reports The Week of UK.

The Apple Watch 2 shall reportedly have a FaceTime camera, a rumor that has been making the rounds since June last year. It shall be capable of recording video that could be embedded into the top bezel, allowing wearers to answer calls from their wrists.

Not a flop

Contrary to reports that the Apple Watch was a flop, the American tech giant has reportedly shipped 12 million units of the wearables from March last year until this month.

That actually puts pressure on the Apple Watch 2, which means that it needs to ship at least 12 million units to match its predecessor in terms of sales.

It is likely that the Apple Watch 2 will have the same function as the Apple Watch when it comes to health issues before they become too serious, reports IT Pro of UK.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said if people think about some of the society’s biggest problems and challenges, they would rather focus on something that has to do with health.

Cook envisions the device to be a tool to track a person’s body and alert him or her to a potentially harmful symptom and thus, greatly extending one’s life spans and improving his or her quality of life.

Does not need an iPhone to maximize its features

The Apple Watch 2 would be a lot better than its predecessor model because it does not need an iPhone to maximize its features and capabilities.

According to latest reports, the Apple Watch 2 shall be capable of connecting to a mobile network to complement its faster processor.

This means that the device could already work autonomously from the iPhone. Apparently, the cellular connectivity of the Apple Watch 2 shall allow users to do a tether-free calling from the wrist, which used to be seen only in James Bond films or some modern-day spy movies.

The connection would also allow users to receive notifications and app updates when their wearable is not connected to a trusted Wi-Fi network.

When the Apple Watch 2 did not come out in March, it was only left with two possible release dates which could either be this coming June during the WWDC 2016 or the traditional iPhone launching event of the American tech giant in September.

But since the smart wearable no longer needs an iPhone to show its capabilities and features, there is a good chance that it will come out next month.

However, this still remains as speculation pending the confirmation from the Cupertino-based tech company, which is unlikely to do so anytime soon or ever.
