Much have been said about the Apple iPod Touch 6th Generation including its superb features, specifications, capabilities, improvements over its predecessor, among others but the latest word is that the upcoming media player from the American tech giant will be powered by iOS 9, Apple’s latest mobile operating system, when it is officially launched in September this year.
According to Venture Capital Post, in addition to running with iOS 9 out of the box, the iPod Touch 6th Generation shall also be compatible with the Apple Watch which would make it a good device to pair with the smart wearable especially when the user is on the go.
The upcoming Apple iPod Touch 6th Generation is expected to be like the usual iPod but is converged with an iPhone, making it like a two-in-one device.
This means that the features of the upcoming music device from the American tech giant shall combine those that were highlighted on the iPod Touch 5th Generation released to the retail markets in 2012 and the latest iPhones.
Silicon Angle recalls that when the Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation was released in September 2012, it shared similar features with the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5C except for their processors. Less than a year later, Apple quietly released a 16GB version of the iPod Touch 5, which was more affordable but does not have the original features including the iSight camera.
Ready to roll out with the new iPhones
The Apple iPod Touch 6th Generation is expected to be unveiled in the fall of this year and will likely make it to the retail markets around September, which will be simultaneous to the roll-out of the next iPhones from the Cupertino-based tech company.
While there have been previous skepticisms about the launching of the iPod Touch 6th Generation as some believe that the iPod Touch 5th Generation is to be the last media player to come out from Apple, the deluge of information, features and specifications that have already been released since last year, really makes the iPod Touch 6th Generation a plausible reality.
Since Apple has not been making any official statement to either confirm or deny the speculations about the iPod Touch 6th Generation, many argue that it has been typical of Apple to be mum on all its gadgets and devices prior to their launchings. The company usually makes official statements during or after its product launches.
Declining sales
There were previous reports that Apple will no longer launch a new iteration to its iconic music player line because iPod Touch sales have significantly declined over the years.
In fact, during the first quarter of 2014, the company sold just over six million units of the device, down from 12.7 million units that were shipped on the same quarter of the previous year, details Silicon Angle.
But Apple already expected the sales decline because the company knew that it would really happen as early as 2009 when it projected that the iPhone sales will cannibalize the sales of its other devices, and that became quite true with the iPod Touch.
However, Apple is not about to let go of its iconic music player device and thus the inevitable launching of the iPod Touch 6 this September.
Apple is about to roll out the iPod Touch 6th Generation this coming September, which shall feature a Retina display. So when the device comes out, Retina displays will become the norm for all of future media players from Apple.
The company is almost sure to launch its iPod Touch 6th Generation in September along with the company’s latest set of iPhones. Latest reports say that the American tech giant will unveil its iPod Touch 6th Generation this coming fall with possible starting selling prices of $250 and $300 depending on the variant.
It’ll be great if it is released!
However, had to laugh over this:
“The upcoming Apple iPod Touch 6th Generation is expected to be like the usual iPod but is converged with an iPhone, making it like a two-in-one device”
If it’s converged with an iPhone, it will become an iPhone!
