The chip actually works with a transmitter that can be placed anywhere in a room. If the WattUp chip is placed inside the iPhone 7, it would be like putting a transmitter inside one’s office and the phone will spend most of the day charging.
If the transmitter is put in the bedroom, it will charge the iPhone 7 wirelessly all night and even in the morning while the user gets dressed for work or school.
However, reports have it that Energous is looking at launching its product either this year or next year. If the technology does not make it to this year, then the technology may not be featured with the iPhone 7. But if it does launch this year, then it is possible that it could be one of the major new features of the iPhone 7.
The iPhone 7 is also expected to have a substantial physical redesign to make it distinct from the largely identical iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S. The phone’s battery life is also reported to be better than its predecessors.
It shall also have a higher screen resolution compared to its predecessor iPhones and it is likely that Apple will already do away with the 16GB lowest storage offering and internal storage of the devices will start at 32GB.
