Apple’s iPhone 7 has already become a popular subject for discussion, despite the device being a long time away, and no official announcement having been made by Apple yet. It’s not known what the phone would offer in terms of features exactly, although some rumors are making their way to the public, according to which the new iPhone may be a bit more innovative than its most recent predecessors.
This is good news for Apple fans, as the company has recently been criticized for relying too much on their previous success and not innovating enough. The last iPhone release was met with mediocre success, and public interest in the devices seems to be on the decline. However, the new iPhone 7 may very well change that, if it actually includes the features that it’s rumored to have.
For one thing, Apple have recently filed for a very interesting patent. They seem to be working on an “active protection” technology for their mobile devices. What this means is that when a phone detects it’s falling down, it will attempt to turn itself in mid-air in order to land on its back and avoid damaging the screen. While such technology may sound too futuristic to be feasible yet, there has already been research in this field previously, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Apple’s engineers have managed to incorporate the results of previous experiments into their work.
Other than that, the device is rumored to be powered by a quad-core A8 processor, and will have a 256 GB model on offer. The screen may also get a new type of glass to make it more durable, and Apple have reportedly also been working on improving the camera and squeezing even more out of its physical configuration. The new iPhone will reportedly have a strong focus on its camera capabilities, and users who’re interested in a good camera phone may want to hold off until Apple’s announcement, as it’s likely that it will show them something interesting.
Apple have not confirmed any of those rumors so far, which is to be expected – the company is practically known for the secrecy in which they work. Still, some of the rumors that have come out so far have been released by sources which have turned out to be right previously, so there’s good reason to believe that at least some of the features listed above will actually be present in the new iPhone. If nothing else, the active protection technology has actually been officially patented and this can be publicly verified, so this is a likely feature. Although, of course, a patent registration doesn’t automatically confirm that the feature is actually in development.
