Apple iPhone 6S to Feature Virtual Reality Display? And More Details

After the successful launching of the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September 2014, nearly every one can’t help but talk about the next smartphone from the American tech giant.

In the early goings of the rumors, it was only iPhone 7 that was being mentioned but as the days go by, speculations already include the iPhone 6S.

As these are just rumors at this time, it could mean a lot of things depending on how speculations are being played and fanned in the internet.

According to News Everyday, latest rumors about the iPhone 6S indicate that the new and upcoming Apple smartphone will feature a first-of-its-kind virtual reality display. It shall also come with more RAM, the latest A9 microchip processor, and a much improved Touch ID.

Virtual reality patent

Rumors about the virtual reality display stemmed from reports that Apple has recently been given a patent grant by the US Patent and Trademark Office on virtual reality headset and display technology.

The Apple US Patent is numbered 8,957,835 and is titled “Head-Mounted Display Apparatus for Retaining a Portable Electronic Device with Display.”

This means that the technology will allow users to insert an iPhone on a portable electronic device which they can use to wear over the head.

Apple filed the application for patent with the US Patent and Trademark Office in 2008 where the company insisted that it cannot use a wired connection since that would be very inconvenient to the user.

Thus, the company settled for a system that merges both mechanical and electronic head-mounted device with a portable electronic device where users can adjust the frame to level with their line of sight.

Release date

While Apple has to make an announcement to confirm that it is indeed into the production of the iPhone 6S or the iPhone 7, analysts are making presumptions based on the company’s smartphone release date history.

According to MacWorld, the likely release date of the iPhone 6S is September 2015 which is just consistent with Apple’s iPhone release schedule history over the last four years.

The company released the iPhone 4S in October 2011, the iPhone 5 in September 2012, the iPhone 5S and 5C in September 2013, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus in September 2014.

However, there have been reports as early as last year that Apple is planning to make two smartphone releases every year beginning in 2015 to keep up with its rivals who have been doing the same for the past couple of years. If this is true, then the iPhone 6S and iPhone 7 may be true after all.

iphone 6S

There are rumors suggesting that the iPhone 6S could actually arrive in Spring 2015, which will be around May alongside the Apple Watch. According to the source of the same rumors, Apple is skepitical about launching the iWatch without a new iPhone to go with it as consumers may become hesitant in getting the Apple Watch and simply wait out until fall to get the latest iPhone.

If this is the case, then an Apple iPhone 6S may be launched in May and the iPhone 7 may officially be rolled out in September.
