Each of the Surface Pro models that have been released since have been a nice upgrade from the last and that is where Apple is lacking. Apple is not going to gear up for those that already own an iPad, they want to target those that are not upgrading their PC with a move to a more portable option. With so many things done online today, there is less of a need for a large tower with two hard drives and monitor to go with it.
According to the announcement this week, Apple would love your corporate IT department to take a look at using an Apple iPad Pro 2016 for getting the job done. The statement is bold, but Apple usually does not lose.
