It’s probably a good idea for the company to pick up the pace in the innovation department right now though. As we pointed out above, they have been a bit slow in this regard in the last few years, and they’ve played their developments quite safely.
This has secured nice profits for them, but at the same time it’s made some people lose trust in the otherwise innovative and fresh approach of the company to their products. Apple built their brand on the image of being the company that always tries new and interesting things, so they should not let that fall apart.
And if that means killing off one of their devices in order to have a tighter, more focused line of devices, then so be it. Most of their fans would probably agree that this would be for the best.
There were rumors that this might happen to the iPod, but so far that line of devices seems safe. The iPad Mini was also brought under question by some fans due to its overlap with the iPad Air, but it doesn’t seem like this particular line is going anywhere anytime soon. If anything, Apple might be more willing to take a second look at the iPad Air, although that also seems somewhat unlikely in the current climate, as the device does have its own purpose and specialized niche.
