Apple iPad Air 3 Reportedly Determined to Out-Spec the iPad Pro When It Comes Out in March!

Rumors about the release date of the Apple iPad Air 3 on the internet have been quite consistent that it shall be launched by the American tech giant in March this year.

If it drops according to its reported schedule, it will be the first time in six years that Apple would be unveiling a tablet in March because the company has been so used to launching the latest iteration of its tablet in October.

It was only last year when it deviated from its usual tablet launching schedule when Apple launched the iPad Pro, along with the iPhone 6S, the iPhone 6S Plus, the iPad mini 4, and the Apple TV in September.

However, the iPad Pro did not immediately make it to the market but came out in November. Prior to the September launching, there were reports that the Cupertino-based tech company was also planning to launch the Apple iPad Air 3. However, because of the iPad Pro, the American tech giant decided to defer the latest iteration of its tablet in order not to compete with the iPad Pro.

There were also reports saying that the reason why Apple decided to defer the release of the iPad Air 3 because it wanted to make sure that the new tablet has major improvements from its predecessor, the iPad Air 2.

Apparently, the company has picked up a good lesson from its competitors that slight improvements on the new variant compared to its predecessor will get intense backlash from consumers that way it happened to the Samsung Galaxy S5 when it was launched in March 2014, and the HTC One M10 when it made it to the markets in April last year.

Better specs and features

Latest reports have it that the Apple iPad Air 3 does not only intend to outdo and out-spec its predecessor, the iPad Air 2, but also the company’s giant tablet, the iPad Pro.

According to speculations, the iPad Air 3 will come out even thinner than the iPad Air 2 because it will just be 6.1 millimeters thick.

Given its level of thickness or thinness, the new tablet will require a smaller battery pack and various other designs to make everything fit.

In addition, the iPad Air 3 shall also come out with iOS 9 already onboard or even higher, an A9X processor, and an internal storage of up to 128GB, reports IT Pro.

While it may not come out as powerful as the iPad Pro given its size limitations, the iPad Air 3 will make up for it by coming up with a groundbreaking design that shall be several notches better than the enterprise-focused giant tablet.

Confirming the huge update

The Motley Fool also confirmed that Apple is indeed planning to have a huge update on the iPad Air 3 when it comes out this year.

Accordingly, if Apple was just planning to do a simple improvement of the iPad Air 3 over the iPad Air 2 like upgrading just the processor and some other internal components, the company could have pulled off a launch alongside the iPad mini 4 and the iPad Pro.

With the iPad sales growth in dire need of all the help that it can get, it would make sense that if it could, Apple would have rolled out a newer iPad Air as soon as possible.

Another area where the iPad Air 3 could have a significant improvement is the camera. There has generally been a significant gap between the quality of the camera subsystem that Apple puts onto its iPads and onto its iPhones, and the delta between the iPhone 6S/iPhone 6S Plus and the iPad Air 2 is no exception.
