Apple iOS Jailbreak: Will 9.3’s Protection Be Defeated Soon?

Now that iOS 9.3 is officially out and users have had some time to discuss the new features in detail, discussions have shifted in a familiar direction – many users are now wondering when they are going to get access to jailbreak tools for the new OS version. This is a common situation with Apple’s mobile operating system, as the company works hard to make sure that its protection can’t be broken through, while crackers prove them wrong every time. Currently, there are no publicly available tools that target iOS 9.3, making many people reluctant to upgrade to the new version.

In fact, even iOS 9.2 proved to be a challenge as many crackers chose to skip it and focus on 9.3 instead. The short release cycle during this period of the operating system’s life is often pointed out as the main reason why iOS 9.2 was never explored in detail by jailbreak developers, so hopefully the most active teams will have more time to dig around the system now and will manage to produce good results.

Rumors indicate that certain teams are already on the job and are close to reaching their goal, and they are reportedly actually exploiting loopholes in the previous version, 9.2. It would appear that Apple did not patch all security issues in the last major version, leaving 9.3 wide open for popular jailbreak teams to attack.

There is also speculation that this was the intended result all along for teams like TaiG and Pangu. The common theory is that the crackers, realizing that Apple will release iOS 9.3 so soon after 9.2, chose to intentionally not publish their functional jailbreak tool for iOS 9.2 so that Apple would not be able to patch the issue for the next version. This gives them the opportunity to more quickly release a tool for 9.3, which will also be relevant a bit longer due to the current release schedule for the operating system.

With that in mind, many people are expecting to see the 9.3 jailbreak tool released soon. Which is certainly good news for Apple fans, as iOS 9.3 came with various improvements that make it a much more user-friendly experience.

One of the major features introduced in the new operating system version is the ability to automatically change the temperature of the screen colors in accordance with the current time. Popularized by a desktop tool called “f.lux”, this feature has received a lot of praise for its effects on screen readability at late hours, as it makes the screen less harsh on the user’s eyes.

Some users have been critical of Apple’s approach to this situation, however. The developer of “f.lux” previously released his own tool for iOS, but was subsequently forced to take it down by Apple, who cited inappropriate API use. Many saw that as a made-up excuse to force the developer out of the market and allow Apple to implement the feature themselves, generating further publicity for the company.

Apple iOS Jailbreak

In any case, those who want to have a little more freedom with their iOS devices should keep an eye out for any news regarding iOS 9.3 jailbreak tools in the coming weeks/months. Many experts predict that we are going to see an announcement by one of the major teams very soon. Hopefully, when this happens Apple will not take any drastic measures to counteract the work of the jailbreak developers and will allow the tool to exist for some time.
