Apple has just released a few days ago its latest firmware update with the iOS 9.3.4. It comes as a surprising update since reports have it that the American tech giant is all set to roll out its latest mobile operating system, the iOS 10, along with the latest iPhones – the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus – next month.
It should also be noted that unlike the iOS 9.3.3, which was more of an update with the intention of fixing bugs, the iOS 9.3.4 is focused on closing up exploits discovered by the jailbreak developers.
It can be recalled that after several months of being very quiet in the jailbreak community, Chinese hacking group Pangu finally released the Apple iOS 9.3.3 Jailbreak tool, which was warmly met by many iOS users who seem to have long waited for the latest jailbreak after months of hiatus.
As Apple is never the one to go down without getting even with the jailbreakers, the American tech giant decided to release the iOS 9.3.4 update recently which caused major problems on the tweaks, features, and exploits of the iOS 9.3.3 Jailbreak once iOS users decide to take on the latest firmware update.
No perfect solution
It has been reported that owners of jailbroken iOS devices, especially those who have taken in the iOS 9.3.3 Jailbreak tool and features, do not have a perfect solution to their problems especially if they have decided to take on the official iOS 9.3.4 over-the-air update.
Apple’s launch of iOS 9.3.4 may be sudden, coming just two weeks after the public release of iOS 9.3.3, but the sudden nature of the release is also tinged with disappointment for jailbreakers.
It has been confirmed eventually that the iOS 9.3.4 is a firmware release that focuses predominantly on security fixes and essentially patches the vulnerabilities within the platform that were used by the Pangu Team to offer a jailbreak on iOS 9.3.2 and iOS 9.3.3.
In short, at this moment in time, no current public jailbreak solution can be used to liberate iOS 9.3.4 from Apple’s walled garden, reports the Redmond Pie
Reversing the update
However, there is still a way to reverse the update and keep the iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak features problem-free, notes Mobile & Apps.
They can always opt to jailbreak their iPhones, iPads, or iTouch once again and simply reverse the update. The procedure is quite easy and only requires a few steps
A user can just download the iOS 9.3.3 Jailbreak tool. Since it is an unofficial iOS function. Backing up the data on iTunes is optional but the user should turn off the ‘Find my iPhone/iPad’ feature before turning off the device for the next part.
The user can then connect his or her turned off iOS device to the computer which should have the latest version of the iTunes installed. He or she also needs to hold down the Home and Power buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
The computer will show a screen where the user will be prompted to restore the iPhone or iPad. He or she just needs to press Shift on the keyboard and click Restore. The user will get prompted to browse for the IPSW file, which he or she has to download before the start of the restoration process.
That would complete the downgrade to the iOS 9.3.3 and the iOS device shall reboot and the user can once again enjoy the features of the iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak.
It is advised that current iOS device users should not update yet to iOS 9.3.4 and wait instead for the iOS 9.3.4 Jailbreak before they do so just to be safe, or better yet, wait for the iOS 10 altogether.
