Apple iOS 8.4 Jailbreak Developers Taken by Surprise with the Release of the iOS 8.4.1

As the Apple iOS 9.0 is reportedly due for launching in September, nearly everyone thought that iOS 8.4 will be the last firmware update from the American tech company.

Apple launched the iOS 8.4 late in June, and a couple of hours later, developers released an iOS 8.4 jailbreak, bringing along with it tweaks and apps to supplement and further improve the software.

Apple has not issued any statement on what changes will be introduced with the iOS 8.4.1, but MacRumors believes it would likely include bug fixes, performance enhancements, and minor tweaks in the operating system.

The iOS 8.4.1 comes on the heels of the iOS 8.4, which previously ushered an entirely revamped Music app along with the new Apple Music streaming service and the Beats 1 radio station.

Many jailbreak developers were almost sure that the iOS 8.4 was to be the last firmware update from Apple that they have actually made sure that the iOS 8.4 jailbreak was really loaded in terms of tweaks.

What made the jailbreak developers happy is that when Apple released the iOS 8.4 on June 30, the American tech giant did not patch the jailbreak exploits made on the iOS 8.3, making the tweaks and apps still usable and applicable on the iOS 8.4.

Seeding the iOS 8.4.1 beta to developers

So when Apple seeded to developers the beta of iOS 8.4.1, jailbreak developers were actually taken by surprise. Apart from wondering with the logic of the release given the impending release of the iOS 9 in a couple of weeks time, they were also worried that the new firmware update might toss the tweaks and apps released with the iOS 8.4 jailbreak.

Even if the patch is not included in the beta version of the iOS 8.4, it is possible that Apple will include it in the final version of the firmware update, which the company has done so in the past. While nobody is sure what Apple has in mind as far as the iOS 8.4 jailbreak tweaks are concerned, the American tech giant has never been a fan of the jailbreaking community.

Although it admits that jailbreak tweaks and apps are not dangerous by any means on its devices, the company nonetheless refers to them as security risks, which it often address by patching those exploits up.

According to Gotta Be Mobile, the beta comes with a handful of bug fixes and performance improvements and most importantly, the highly-anticipated improvements on the Apple Music streaming service.

Great features on the iOS 9

Everyone in the global mobile community really thought that the iOS 8.4 is to be the last firmware update on Apple’s problematic iOS 8.0 that was released last year.

After all, the iOS 9 has already been touted to bring tons of great features to make the iOS device user experience truly awesome. Accordingly, it shall build on the contents introduced with iOS 7 and iOS 8, bringing along subtle design changes, refined features, and improved functionality, as well as performance enhancements.

The American tech giant has also stated that the iOS 9 would also have tons of new security features and fixes that would essentially lock up the iOS device real tight, making it difficult for the jailbreak community to unlock. Apple even claimed that the jailbreak on the iOS 9 is nearly impossible at this point.

Despite the looming and nearing presence of the iOS 9, Apple still rolled out the iOS 8.4 on June 30 bringing along with it a couple of updates and fixes. The updates and fixes were too few compared to what the iOS 9 will be bringing forth that it was no longer a question for iOS device users of how good these small features are but whether the iOS 8.3 jailbreak tweaks and apps would run on the new firmware update.

iOS 84 jailbreak

Apparently, the tweaks and apps on jailbroken iOS 8.3 devices would be compatible with the iOS 8.4 that is why many are sure to take on the firmware update over-the-air (OTA), considering that it is also the last before the arrival of the iOS 9 very soon.
