Apple iOS 8.3 Jailbreak Tweaks and Apps Still Compatible with Newly-Released iOS 8.4

While Apple has already seeded its latest mobile operating system iOS 9 to developers following its launch at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2015 last month, the American tech giant still went on to release its firmware update, the iOS 8.4, on June 30, as scheduled.

The iOS 8.4 is to be the last firmware update on Apple’s problematic iOS 8.0 that was released last year.

The iOS 9, on the other hand, is expected to bring tons of great features to make the iOS device user experience truly awesome. Accordingly, it shall build on the contents introduced with iOS 7 and iOS 8, bringing along subtle design changes, refined features, and improved functionality, as well as performance enhancements.

The American tech giant has also stated that the iOS 9 would also have tons of new security features and fixes that would essentially lock up the iOS device real tight, making it difficult for the jailbreak community to unlock. Apple even claimed that the jailbreak on the iOS 9 is nearly impossible at this point.

Despite the looming and nearing presence of the iOS 9, Apple still rolled out the iOS 8.4 bringing along with it a couple of updates and fixes. The updates and fixes were too few compared to what the iOS 9 will be bringing forth that it was no longer a question for iOS device users of how good these small features are but whether the iOS 8.3 jailbreak tweaks and apps would run on the new firmware update.

Compatibility with jailbreak tweaks

Apparently, the tweaks and apps on jailbroken iOS 8.3 devices would be compatible with the iOS 8.4 that is why many are sure to take on the firmware update over-the-air (OTA), considering that it is also the last before the arrival of the iOS 9 very soon, notes 9to5mac.

Initially worried that the tweaks and apps on their jailbroken iOS 8.3 devices will not work when they take on the iOS 8.4 update, many users were skeptical about new firmware update and were thinking of just holding out until an iOS 8.4 jailbreak becomes available for fallback purposes.

Popular jailbreak developer Taig however, confirmed that the exploits that were developed and featured with the iOS8.3 jailbreak will still be working in the new firmware update, driving many iOS users to take on the iOS 8.4 immediately.

But if the same users were worried at all about losing their iOS 8.3 jailbreak tweaks and apps, it was just momentarily, because less than two hours after the release of the iOS 8.4 on June 30, Taig also released a quick untethered jailbreak update for iOS 8.4, reports the International Business Times of UK.

But typical with a new iOS jailbreak, users are still skeptical whether to take on the iOS 8.4 jailbreak too because their favored iOS 8.3 jailbreak tweaks and apps, particularly on Cydia, might not support the new jailbreak.

However Taig came out with a pronouncement again saying that users can already go ahead with either the iOS 8.3 jailbreak or iOS 8.4 jailbreak as most tweaks and apps are confirmed to be fully compatible that the developer has proven through actual tests.

Apprehension in releasing jailbreak

Before the release of the iOS 8.4, jailbreak developers have expressed apprehension in releasing an iOS 8.3 jailbreak before June 30 because it might give Apple sufficient time to patch up the crack and allow the company to apply it to iOS 8.4, which would make the upcoming firmware update unjailbreakable.

When that happens, it will severely shorten the lifespan of the iOS 8.3 jailbreak, which would mean a huge waste of time for jailbreak developers.

iOS 8-3 jailbreak

So rather than releasing an iOS 8.3 jailbreak, the jailbreaking team will release instead an iOS 8.4 jailbreak since there will be no more update after it because iOS 9 will already be officially coming out in September.
