Users of Apple’s iOS have been patiently waiting for news regarding the jailbreaking procedure for their version of the operating system – or in other words, unlocking the phone to remove the standard manufacturer restrictions present on it by default by Apple. Typically, Apple are not very fond of this idea at all and keep battling the jailbreak community by patching up the loopholes that they rely on – only for a new jailbreaking method to come out within a few weeks.
However, the status of the current 8.3 version of the operating system has been questionable, as nobody has apparently managed to release a stable, reliable jailbreak tool for it yet. There have been claims that such tools are in development by various programmers, but nothing has come out so far. The situation has reached a point where some members of the jailbreak community are suggesting that people just wait for iOS 8.4 instead, as most of the jailbreak programmers are actually waiting for that themselves.
It’s been several weeks since iOS 8.3 came out, and the release of iOS 8.4 is approaching fast at this point – and considering that most of the operating system’s users are likely going to switch to the new version immediately, it makes sense for jailbreak developers to want to skip 8.3 completely and focus their efforts on the next version.
Beta tests of iOS 8.4 have already been promising in this regard – someone has apparently already managed to jailbreak the OS. Of course, Apple have been keeping a close eye on the situation, as it’s a closed beta and all, and they were quick to patch up the hole, stating that it will be fixed in the final release of the operating system. But of course, it’s only a matter of time before another exploit is discovered, and as we said above, 8.4 is certainly looking more attractive for developers of jailbreak tools right now.
There are also claims that 8.3 has actually been jailbroken already, although it’s not entirely clear if that tool is compatible with 8.3 specifically, as it seems to be aimed at the next version of the OS. Some have reported that it can also successfully crack the protection of iOS 8.3 as well, but we haven’t been able to confirm that so far.
And for what it’s worth, the main communities surrounding the jailbreak scene have been quiet about this, so it looks like the tool doesn’t work as well as initial reports are claiming. In the end, users are stuck waiting for iOS 8.4 for the time being.
I want to jail brake
I want an 8.4 jailbreak
I’ll hold on my 8.1.2 jb as much as i can possibly hold. Looks like Apple tree won against jailbreakers… Haha bye app freedom!!!
There’s a low chance of there being a iOS 9 jailbreak because of this new system called rootless. It prevents people from going through its files making jailbreaking impossible
Michael – you could be right in saying rootless will prevent future jailbreaks but one statement on the web from taig says they haven’t ever needed root access to run a jailbreak and they haven’t ever needed root access to even create one , every os is breakable some how , there will be someone out there who can get past which ever security it has to offer hence why there will be lots of updates , I’m sure at one point Apple said iOS 8 wouldn’t be jailbreakble or it wouldn’t be easy but almost straight away we got one, in my opinion every os will be jailbreakble, even if it takes months to find one, there will be one
