Apple is reportedly setting the stage for the release of the latest partial update to iOS 8.0 in the next few days with the patch to be known as iOS 8.1.3.
The American tech giant has yet to confirm the rumored upcoming release of the latest patch to its latest mobile operating system but Apple mobile device users seem to believe that iOS 8.1.3 is indeed coming very soon.
Apple officially released the iOS 8.0 on September 17, 2014, a little over a week after the company officially launched the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
But typical with most new software release, the iOS 8.0 was peppered with bugs and glitches, much to the annoyance of users who have immediately taken in the update after it was released. Statistics indicate that 63% of Apple mobile device users have taken in the new mobile operating system either on their tablets or smartphones.
Subsequently, Apple released a patch called iOS 8.1.1 that fixed some of the initial bugs but still not all of them. The company was thus force to come up and release the second patch which it called as iOS 8.1.2 sometime in December 2014.
Still not good enough
Argyll Free Press reports that the iOS 8.1.2 patch may have solved most of the bugs and glitches that was still left unsolved by the previous iOS 8.1.1 patch, but it was still far from perfect.
From then on, Apple mobile device users have been waiting for either a third patch from the company or altogether a new mobile operating system in the likely form of iOS 9.0 or perhaps a full update to be known as iOS 8.2.
While it is highly unlikely that Apple would release a new mobile operating system just four months after rolling out the iOS 8.0, the likely possibility is very high that the company would release the full iOS 8.2 update to solve all bugs and glitches for good rather than another patch to just fix the other bugs that the first two patches were not able to do.
Chances are, there might still be some left-over bugs after the iOS 8.1.3 patch is rolled out. It must be remembered that when Apple launched the iOS 8.1.2, the company was so confident that the patch would fix all the other bugs that were not addressed by iOS 8.1.1. But the company was wrong.
Already released
There are also rumors indicating that Apple has already released last week the iOS 8.1.3 patch to a limited number of Apple mobile device users, who are reportedly select employees of the company.
If that is the case, then it is likely that the iOS 8.1.3 is indeed forthcoming either this week or next week.
iOS 8.1.3 may be the update patch that Apple mobile device users have been waiting for or it may just be another stop-gap measure. The company may use the third patch to bid its time as it develops the full iOS 8.2 update or drastically release the iOS 9.0 to solve its problematic iOS 8.0 release.
