Apple have obviously been putting a lot of work into the newest iteration of their iOS mobile system, and version 10 is looking better and better with each preview that we see. There have been various improvements in places like the notification center, general usability, as well as aesthetics. It looks like Apple are trying to make iOS even more intuitive and streamlined to use, capitalizing on features that the operating system is already known for.
In addition, they are reportedly making even more use of their 3D Touch technology in this version of iOS, and users with capable devices will see various additions to the interface that should make their lives easier. But even without 3D Touch, it’s obvious that Apple are trying to make this edition of iOS as useful as possible to power users, and those who like to always stay connected in every aspect of their lives.
Notifications can be a lot more dynamic and interactive now, allowing apps to display various bits of information in real time in order to give the user access to move without requiring them to actually open the app itself. This is similar to the approach other companies have been taking for a long time now, such as Google with their widgets as well as Microsoft with Live Tiles. Of course, Apple’s design is still unique and constrained to their own ideas for their operating system, so it will be interesting to see their take on it.
On the other hand, iOS 10 is still not perfect, as the current beta versions are riddled with various issues that users keep discovering. Of course, that’s the whole point of running a public beta in the first place, so hopefully the first official edition of the OS will be smooth and issue-free. As long as users are active enough in exploring the beta for bugs, that should produce good results in the end. It’s also important that Apple are diligent about fixing those bugs as well, but they seem to be on top of that so far.
Users have been requesting various features to be added in the new edition of the mobile OS, and while some of those suggestions make a lot of sense, others are a bit far-fetched and we wouldn’t expect to see them in any official form. Still, things like interactive app icons would be interesting to see. In the same corner, we’ve also seen a concept for larger icons that display more information, but that looks like it could present some issues in its implementation.
We’re confident that Apple’s engineers are capable enough to make any kinds of changes to iOS that they feel would benefit the users though, so that shouldn’t even be a concern. We’ve already seen the company taking cues from various community projects, such as implementing a solution similar to the popular app “f.lux” into the core of the operating system, and they could definitely do a lot more in this regard.
Also, some users seem to feel that Apple are taking their experiments with the user interface of the operating system too far. The company has produced some quite creative solutions in the past, and we’ve seen them coming up with great designs for the tech market that have then been followed by other companies for a long time, but it doesn’t mean that everything they do is automatically a good idea.
