Brangelina is no more. Hollywood A-lister couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has called it quits after six kids, 10 years of being romantic partners, and two years of marriage.
News broke out on Tuesday morning after TMZ reported that Jolie has filed a divorce from her husband. The divorce papers have since flooded the internet.
The Oscar-winning actress filed in Los Angeles Superior Court earlier this week, citing irreconcilable differences, court documents showed. Jolie sought full physical custody of their six children with visitation rights for Pitt but did not seek spousal support.
Despite listing their separation date as September 15, The Post reports that the couple’s Franchchateu Miraval property — where they exchanged vows in 2014 — has been quietly on the market for a few months although this has not been confirmed.
Just minutes broke out, social media buzzed with #Brangelina mentioned roughly 720 times per minute on Twitter. It was the most talked about topic overnight with many expressing their shock on the news.
According to Jolie’s lawyer Robert Offer, the decision was made for the health of the family. Offer says that Angelina will not be commenting and asks that the family is given privacy at this time.
Speaking to People, Pitt says that he’s very saddened with how their relationship went down, but says what’s more important is the well-being of their children. He also asks the press to give Jolie and his children space and privacy.
While the real reason for the split could still not be confirmed, reports surfacing says that the “World War Z” actor has been cheating on Jolie with French actress Marion Cotillard.
Pitt and Cotillard were reportedly cozying up during the filming of their upcoming film “Allied.” The lead stars reportedly took their blossoming connection off-screen while filming in London.
As per Page Six, Jolie hired a private investigator because she felt that her husband was fooling around with her. Upon learning of the affair, it was the final straw for the “Changeling” actress.
Reports say that the private investigator found out that the 52-year-old actor was also partying like a single guy while away from his family.
A source close to Marion has denied the Pitt affair rumors and insisted that the 40-year-old actress is still with her long-term partner, French actor and director, Guillaume Canet.
Canet and Cotillard have been together since 2007 and have one child but have never married.
Speculations also say that the couple has also been sparring about their lifestyle and how they raise their children, to which Angelina has had enough.
This rumor stemmed from the statements released by Angelina’s manager, Geyer Kosinski saying that in light of the divorce, the 41-year-old actress will always do what’s in the best interest to protect her children.
With regards to their lifestyle, The Post reports that “The Tomb Raider” star has long wanted to quit Hollywood in favor of devoting herself full-time to traveling the globe for her humanitarian work.
Pitt, on the other hand, still wants to make movies and be in the entertainment industry and that’s why they constantly clash and bicker, reports say.
Brad and Angelina, collectively known as Brangelina were one of Hollywood’s most visible couples. Their relationship was a constant sighting in reports and tabloids along with their six children, three of which are adopted.
The pair met on the set while filming “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” in 2005 while Brad was still married to Jennifer Aniston. The film was notable for establishing the couple’s relationship. There were reports of an affair but Jolie has since denied these rumors.
Speaking of the “Friends” alum, US Weekly reports that Jen was already informed of her former husband’s split and says that she sees their failed marriage as somewhat a karma.
According to the media outlet, Aniston has discussed the news with a pal and says that she always got the sense that something would happen to them eventually.
