After what appeared to be a bitter word war in the press between divorcing A-list couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, the two camps have recently agreed to be mature enough to handle the reality of the situation and protect the interest of their six children.
The former couple, known worldwide as ‘Brangelina,’ released a joint statement on January 10, revealing that they have both signed agreements to keep all of their documents private, reports ET Online.
The joint statement said that the parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decision and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues.
It also added that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification.
The joint statement marks the first released statement from Jolie and Pitt together since news broke that the actress filed for divorce from Pitt on September 19.
Since the split, the estranged couple has been in a legal battle over custody of their six children, namely, Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.
Afraid of the truth
Prior to the joint statement, Angelina Jolie also filed a document in court accusing her former husband of working to seal the divorce documents pertaining to custody because Pitt is allegedly terrified that the public will learn the truth.
Jolie and Pitt have been in the midst of a public divorce and custody battle over their children. Jolie is seeking physical custody, while Pitt has requested joint custody, reports CNN.
In a previous motion filed before the court, the 53-year-old Pitt accused Jolie of disregarding their children’s privacy rights when she believes it may benefit her, claiming that the actress exposed the children by making public the names of their therapist and other mental health professionals.
Brad Pitt made a surprise appearance during the 2017 Golden Globe award to present a clip from “Moonlight,” where he was clearly well-received by a cheering audience, most of all, his “Ocean’s Eleven” co-star, Matt Damon. Pitt’s production company, Plan B Entertainment, helped to produce the critically-acclaimed film.
Most recently, Pitt filed additional court documents in which he said his former wife was determined to ignore even agreed upon standards relating to the children’s best interest.
He also said Jolie had no self-regulating mechanism when it came to protecting their kids. Pitt and Jolie are currently following an informal custody arrangement in which Jolie retains physical custody and Pitt is given supervised visits.
Angie’s dark past emerges
Meanwhile, it seems that the latest rumors about the divorce proceedings between estranged A-list couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have started to tilt in favor of the actor as the dark past of the actress has suddenly emerged into the picture.

The “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” actress was reported to have made the headlines in 2014 when a video surfaced that showed her purchasing heroin and cocaine in the ’90s. The actress commented on the incident during an appearance on “60 Minutes.”
She was quoted as saying that she went through heavier, darker times and she survived them, claiming that she did not die young.
After her recent filing of divorce with Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie now has been through three divorces. The actress was married to Jonny Lee Miller in 1996. The pair parted ways in 1999 and Jolie quickly moved on to Billy Bob Thornton, whom she married in 2000.
