Angelica Rivera Coming Back to TV with Casablanca Adaptation!

Angelica Rivera has been in the middle of some heated controversy lately, but this doesn’t seem to be affecting her popularity in any significant way. If anything, she’s apparently doing quite well, and is now set to appear in a brand new production that adapts “Casablanca” to a telenovela. It’s set to start airing in 2015, after the end of “Hasta El Fin Del Mundo”, and will be directed by Michael Curtiz. At the same time, the writing team behind the new telenovela will be the one responsible for “La Malquerida”.

In the new production, Rivera will play along her ex-husband Jose Alberto Castro; the show is still in the initial casting stages, according to reports, as even the male lead hasn’t been picked yet. The producers are set to announce their choice for the role shortly, and while there has been a lot of speculation over who they might pick, the choice can realistically go in many directions so it’s hard to say at this point.

Rivera last made an appearance on the screen with “Destilando Amor”, where she played with Eduardo Yanez, playing in the role of a labor worker by the name of Gaviota. The actress, who subsequently became the First Lady of Mexico, was recently involved in a shady scandal related to her finances, as she was revealed to have built a multi-million dollar home, for which she couldn’t really provide a reasonable explanation. The whole drama ended with Rivera’s announcement that she’s selling the house in order to put an end to the negativity. She’s currently reportedly trying to get back the money she’s lost on that investment, although it’s not clear if she’s seeing any success with that.

There has also been speculation that her decision to come back to the screen has been the result of her financial difficulties behind the scene, although this is just a rumor at this point, and there isn’t actually that much reason to believe that Rivera is in a severe financial situation. However, if she is, then coming back to her fame as a telenovela star is a sure way to get back to earning promptly.

Not much else is known about the newly produced show at this point, although a lot of effort and funding seem to be getting poured into its production, so it’s definitely shaping up to be something interesting. Fans of classic Mexican telenovelas are likely in for a treat once the new show starts airing, which should happen in a few months if everything about the production goes according to plan, and no unexpected delays are encountered along the way.
