Andy Serkis’s Mysterious Character Has Been Through Some ‘Stuff’, Cast Details Revealed for Star Wars Episode 7!

Star Wars fans were sent into a frenzy of guessing and speculation regarding the identity of the character with the sinister disembodied voice during the end of the 88 second trailer for the upcoming Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens. However, Andy Serkis was soon to put an end to all of these speculations declaring that he was the one saying, ‘There’s been an awakening. Have you felt it’…which ends with ‘The dark side and the light’.

The British actor is widely known for his motion capture performances in various films like Planet of the Apes and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He provided a few more cryptic hints regarding this forthcoming film, which is to be released in December, next year. He declared to be playing as a single character, during his question and answer session with Entertainment Weekly. This dismissed a lot of speculations that suggest he would be appearing in several different roles.

He further declared that the gravelly statuesque voice was his own and there wasn’t any digital manipulation in it. It was the character he is playing and that too in his own voice. The alter egos of actors Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac have already been named. Only Serkis’s mysterious characters hasn’t been named yet. The dark figure, which is rumored to be played by Andy Serkis, picks up the ‘cross-guard’ lightsaber in the trailer of Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens. His cloaked figure traipses through the darkening forest while breathing out, ‘The dark side and the light’.

Andy didn’t reveal whether he will be seen on-screen or through a performance capture. He declared that he can’t say a thing regarding any of ‘these’ things. He further promised that all of it will be revealed with the passage of time.

Judging from the voice in the trailer, his character sounds weary and wise at the same time. Was his character involved in some rough action in the galaxy? To this question, he cautiously replied that he needs to be careful how to answer them. He still revealed that his character has actually been through ‘some stuff’.

Serkis’s voice is the only thing we can hear in this trailer, besides the iconic Star War’s score along with the background noise of Droids. Daisy Ridley can also been seen in the recent trailer with a background that resembles the planet of Tatooine. It also shows John Boyega as the sweating stormtrooper, who plays a character called Finn.

Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens picks up around 30 years after the events in Return of the Jedi. Original cast members like Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill will make an appearance with Anthony Daniels and Peter Matthew.
