For some reasons, the much-anticipated roll out of the Android 5.1 Lollipop on the Motorola Droid Turbo was delayed again for a couple of weeks.
It was earlier reported that the firmware update will start hitting Motorola Droid Turbo smartphone beginning on June 10 but it never materialized further frustrating the already agitated users who have been anxiously waiting for the Android 5.1 Lollipop for over three months since the American tech company made the announcement in March.
US carrier Verizon recognizes the disappointment of Motorola Droid Turbo users that is why it creatively came up with a fallback or a cushion to relieve the increasing frustration of consumers on Motorola for not keeping its promise.
Verizon is hosting the Android 5.1 Lollipop simulator which seeks to give users of Motorola Droid Turbo a preview of what the firmware update could bring to their handsets.
But the simulator is not an app that can be downloaded and install on the Droid Turbo. Users however can visit the Verizon website so that they get to know the new features that the Android 5.1 Lollipop is expected to bring to the smartphone through an interactive guide that shall walk them through things like downloading apps and adding widgets to the home screen , using Google Now and Google Maps, and browsing the web in Google Chrome, details Tech Worm.
Verizon actually updated its simulator tool to Android 5.1 Lollipop for the Motorola Droid Turbo, which is obviously an attempt to diffuse the growing anxiety and tension from users who are already feeling frustrated with the delay of the release of the firmware update.
Accordingly, the Android 5.1 Lollipop roll out hit a snag during its testing process prompting the engineers to remedy it with a simulator and hold back users’ expectations which Verizon accepted and implemented right away.
Stability and performance improvements
Apart from the usual bug fixes, the Android 5.1 Lollipop is expected to bring stability improvements, and performance tweaks on last year’s Motorola flagship smartphone.
Though the improvements would not be as noticeable or as drastic compared to devices which have taken on the problematic Android 5.0 Lollipop, the firmware update would be a significant development as the Motorola Droid Turbo headed straight to Android 5.1 Lollipop from its Android 4.4 KitKat, which it carried since it was launched in October last year.
Users of the Motorola Droid Turbo felt alienated for being left out by the company in the cold as most of the Motorola smartphones that were launched later than the handset already got their Lollipop updates way ahead of them while they agonizingly wait.
Some Droid Turbo owners are actually feeling the pangs of envy and experiencing fits of jealousy too. They also felt bad because they were being branded as second-class citizens too.
The update will bring most of the key features of the Android 5.0 Lollipop and the Android 5.1 Lollipop including lock screen notifications, material design, the new recent apps page, two-finger quick settings menu from any page, battery saver mode using Project Volta, 64-bit ART compiler that opens apps faster, new security features, among a host of others.

When I purchased my Droid Turbo in October of 2015 I also had the choice to purchase a Nexus 6 delivered with Android 5. Motorola and Verizon advertised that Android 5 would be released for Droid Turbo before Christmas 2015. This update is not 3 months late as indicated by this article. It is at least 6 months late. Note to Motorola and Verizon: This is the last non-Nexus device I will ever purchase. As an Android developer I cannot afford to be 6 months behind the market.
Ohh! more waiting Motorola users, hope newest version will hit motorola before hit other smartphones.
Great, we can play with lollipop but we can’t actually have it. Older phones have the update already. This is the last exclusive to Verizon phone I will get.
I entered a one year contract with the droid turbo in October 2014. I already had the LG G3 and now the LG G4 all with Lollipop. My contract with the droid turbo will be up in 4 months. If I had the resources, I would sue Verizon for false advertising. At best full of excuses.
never again verizon, never
I’ve been a Verizon and Motorola customer for years and I honestly am not buying any device by them again. They did this on my droid RAZR maxx hd and now here on the Turbo. The fact that they aren’t telling us a reason why they have to push it back. It’s always they hit a snag so now they need a few more years.
I keep putting off getting the galaxy s6 edge from reports saying they’re nearing the update process. But its been far too long especially since their reasons, if given at all, are so ambiguous. I’m edging up to the s6, and probably not gonna buy from them again.
Verizon is doing nothing but blowing smoke up people’s ass. Yes they may be the largest network but with money sitting around while they twiddle their thumbs or stick their fingers up their ass what good is it ? CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW VERIZON ! THE CEO RUNS THE CO. LIKE A CIRCUS.NOT a threat but when this contract runs out I might try T-Mobile. CEO seems to be well educated but more than that he has some common sense !!!!!!!!!!
