Android 5.0 Lollipop Release Date & Download: Update to Roll Out on LG G2!

The sweet taste of Google’s latest mobile operating system will be coming to LG’s G2 smartphones pretty soon following a leaked image of the handset with Android 5.0.1 Lollipop running on it.

Three days before Christmas, GSM Arena reported the leaked screenshot of an F320L version of the LG G2 running on Android 5.0.1, which means that the full Lollipop package would soon roll out to LG G3’s predecessor via a newer interface.

Early this month, Google has successfully launched the Lollipop on a handful of smartphone devices including the LG G3, but only those in South Korea and Europe thus far.

In rolling out Google’s latest mobile operating system on G3 this month, LG has actually beaten other smartphone manufacturers to the draw including Samsung, HTC, and Sony, notes Android Headlines.

LG G3 owners in the US however would likely get their over-the-air (OTA) updates of the Lollipop early in 2015, according to a report from the Latin Post.

The waiting time would be longer still for American owners and users of LG G2, adds the report.

The leaked screenshot of the LG G2 running on Android 5.0.1 however should give owners from the US and elsewhere one reason to be excited about giving them the thought that the latest Android mobile operating system will be coming to their handsets soon.

The Latin Post believes that the LG G2 still has a lot of mileage left on it as one of the better and excellent handsets of 2013.

But Android Headlines cautioned that the leaked image of the LG G2 is the LTE – Advanced version released for the South Korean market only, which may mean that the update may just roll out for handset owners in the country.

The report states that LG and Samsung, both South Korean tech firms, normally release updates in their home market before launching it in other countries. But seeing the latest Android mobile operating system on a South Korean G2 indicates that LG is working on something, although it is not clear when will the Lollipop be officially tasted globally on LG’s 2013 flagship smartphone.

The site also thinks that LG G2 may indeed go straight to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop instead of the earlier Android 5.0 Lollipop version as the leaked screen shot showed the handset with a G3 universal interface (UI).

Android Lollipop 5.1

LG has released this year a handful of budget smartphones that features the UI from the G3 so seeing it on a G2 would not be surprising at all, notes Android Headlines.

The Korean manufacturer has yet to release an official statement or announcement regarding the rollout of the Android 5.0 Lollipop on the G2 and thus, has yet to also confirm the possible launch of the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop on its 2013 flagship smartphone.
