Pakistan-born British boxer Amir Khan does not see the world’s most anticipated boxing bout featuring Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather Jr. happening at all because there’s just plenty of politics involved in the negotiations.
It’s not that Amir Khan is saying that the fight will not happen because he does not want it to happen. On the contrary, he says that he would love to see the fight happening because he too is a boxing fan.
It is also not because he is looking to fight any of the two boxers in the event that the mega-buck fight between the two best pound-for-pound boxers does not materialize.
Based on his recent discussion with Manny Pacquiao and also on his camp’s negotiations with the Mayweather team, Amir Khan said he really does not see the fight happening at all because there’s too much politics with the fight, details the Bleacher Report.
Khan mentioned these political pictures by citing that there are different promotion teams, there are different networks and there are different management teams for both Pacquiao and Mayweather so the fight will not happen at all.
The ultimatum
Amir Khan has given Floyd Mayweather Jr. until the end of the third week of January to decide whether to fight him or not, otherwise, he will move on to look and fight another opponent in the next few months. Mayweather hardly budge on Khan’s ultimatum.
Unfortunately for Khan, it seems that he has not found an opponent just yet even after his ultimatum to Mayweather already expired two weeks ago.
Also in the fourth week of January, Pacquiao and his team have also met with Amir Khan and his team in London to discuss the possibility of the two of them fighting together in the event that the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight fizzles out again.
Pacquiao has also given Mayweather until the end of January to decide whether to fight him or not. But prior to the deadline, Pacquiao had the opportunity for a chance encounter with Mayweather in Miami during a Miami Heat game at its home floor, the American Airlines Arena.
A subsequent meeting between the two boxers happened at Pacquiao’s hotel in Miami, which nearly got everyone excited of finally seeing the long-awaited boxing bout.
Raining on the parade
While Pacquiao hinted that the match with Mayweather will be finalized within the next couple of days after their meeting and also before the end of January, Mayweather was raining on the parade.
He has been insinuating in his social media account that the fight with Pacquiao is not done yet. He said that while the other camp continues to lie that the fight is already close to happening, he will just enjoy his life and see the world with his private jet.
There were even speculations that the Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather fight would officially be announced on Super Bowl 2015 on February 1, but nothing of that sort came out. The whole boxing world continues to wait but obviously the boxing world’s patience is starting to get thinner too.
