Troubled actress Amanda Bynes escaped being formally charged by Los Angeles District Attorney with another DUI case and also for violating her probation after she was arrested on September 28 on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.
Bynes was booked after she beat a red light and then stopped in the middle of an intersection and appears to be much disoriented, according to police reports.
The blood test taken after her arrest showed that she was positive for Adderall but the Los Angeles City Attorney declined to prosecute her because she was already on probation for a 2012 drunk driving incident in West Hollywood, notes the NY Daily News.
A spokeswoman for the DA said that based on the police reports that were provided their office, they don’t see any violation to the probation on Bynes.
While she is officially off the hook for her September 2014 DUI arrest, she has been ordered by a court to remain under the conservatorship of her parents until her next hearing on June 23.
The decision was made by a Ventura County judge who said on February 24 that after a lengthy discourse with the 28-year-old actress and her lawyer, the court has decided to extend her temporary conservatorship to a new hearing set for June 23.
Doing much better
Lynn Bynes, Amanda’s mother, has been serving as the actress’ conservator since 2013. The conservatorship enables Lynn to make medical and financial decisions for her daughter.
David Esquibias, Bynes’ lawyer, said that Amanda is doing much better and is said to be back in good terms with her conservator mother, cites Access Hollywood.
A source close to the family disclosed that the “Hairspray” actress has been making significant strides in her recovery.
The source added that Amanda has her own apartment and is much happier now. She has also become more clear-headed, more focused, and has more independence now.
In October last year, she was released from a psychiatric hold following her DUI arrest and also the numerous tweets she made back then regarding her disagreements with her parents.
On probation
Amanda Bynes has been on probation early last year after making a no-jail plea deal for her West Hollywood DUI case in 2012.
The actress has had a string of brushes with the law since 2012 that also included another arrest in 2013 for throwing a bong out of her Manhattan high-rise apartment.
She also pleaded no contest to an alcohol-related reckless driving in 2012 where she received three years of probation.
Bynes was also videotaped wildly dancing inside a Manhattan clothing store and was placed under her second involuntary psychiatric hold at a Pasadena hospital.
Her parents’ lawyer, who was also present during the conservatorship hearing, refused to make any comment when asked about Bynes or her clients’ opinion on the issue.
