Ghostbusters has been labeled one of the most original movie franchises ever and even after all of these years, it looks like the third installment could be shaping up nicely. For now, sources all over the internet are talking about the new movie for one main reason. The fact that the director said that it would feature an all-female cast, but the big question is who will be in it. There is plenty of speculation as to who the fans would like to see in the film, but only a handful of them admit to having a meeting with the director.
One of those that has admitted would be the very popular and hot to trot, Jennifer Lawrence. She has been hot on the mobvie circuit since she appeared in the blockbuster hit The Hunger Games. After appearing in that role, many other roles have spawned for her and she has played a wide variety of characters. Ghostbusters 3 would just be another one she could add to the pile. Another name that has been tossed around is Rebel Wilson, which was brought up during a taping of the Today Show this week.
Since she appeared in Bridesmaids, which was also directed by Feig, Rebel Wilson has caught the attention of many directors. That is one more name that would be helping to create the reported all female cast for the new movie. She did not reveal much information and only stated that she has met with people and “who knows”, guessing she is not able to say much more than that. At one point she mentioned that she would do the movie “for free”.
It will all come down to whether or not fans get to see Bill Murray in the remake of the popular movie. According to sources, he has turned down the role as a cameo so it does not look good in that aspect. There is little reason to believe that Ghostbusters 3 will not produce laughs and a good time, but without Bill Murray, the quality of laughs might be hurting.
Ghostbusters was first released back in 1984 as a science fiction comedy and it starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, who take to New York City with their ghost catching business. The story was born out of Aykroyd and John Belushi back in the Saturday Night Live days, but continued through many drafts until finishing with what you see today. The comedy was even nominated for two Oscars, but did not win going up against Indiana Jones and The Woman in Red.
