Persepolis coach Ali Daei has been criticized recently over the poor performance of Persepolis FC in Iran’s Pro League. Under the tutelage of Daei, Persepolis have bagged just 7 points in 8 games.
Although many believe that Ali Daei should consider leaving the club, he doesn’t seem ready to resign from his post anytime soon.
Over the past few years, Mohammad Mayeli Kohan has always been one of the top criticizers of Ali Daei. Last month, Daei sued Mayeli Kohan for his negative comments, and a local court in Iran condemned Mohammad Mayeli Kohan for his multiple interviews against Daei.
“He [Ali Daei] doesn’t care about Persepolis. The results and the performance of the team are not actually important for him. He only supervises the players’ training for one hour a day. This team has the potential of winning the IPL title, but the current head coach doesn’t try to improve the situation,” Mayeli Kohan said in an interview with the state media.
“Persepolis fans and supporters always ask about the team’s condition when they meet me on street, but I don’t know what to say about this. Millions of Iranians inside and outside the country support this club, so we need to respect their love and improve the club accordingly,” Iran’s former head coach added.
Mayeli Kohan has already managed a number of football clubs in the country including Saipa and Gahar Dorood. Despite playing for Persepolis for almost 16 years, he has never coached the team.
“I’m ready to help the club if needed. I’m not looking to promote my own services, but this club is in need of a new head coach who can dedicate his time for improving the current conditions.” Mayeli Kohan concluded.
It is worth mentioning that Persepolis is one of the most popular football clubs in the Middle East region.
